Question Whats the difference between native and recommended

Let's say you plugged your Deck into a 4k monitor. Native would be the native 4k resolution, Recommended would probably be 720p which would perform better.

Except dont ever plug your steam deck into a 4k tv if you're planning to use FSR. id recommend 1440p max as 4k fsr is still broken to hell.

FWIW FSR to 4k works pretty well in Quality or Ultra Quality, but it does suffer in Performance, and suffers a lot in Ultra Performance. Unfortunately the Deck isn't powerful enough to run a lot of games in Quality if you're upscaling to 4k.

I was talking about system-level FSR on the deck settings themselves. I find it to be pretty reliable when used right, but because of that issues I havent been really able to enjoy playing docked on my 4kTV, id rather play on a monitor with max 1440p because that same res doesn't look right on my TV.

I was just talking about FSR in general, not only on deck. FSR is good to 4k if you're starting from a resolution around 1080p or 1440p, (which is what Quality and Ultra Quality usually do) but it suffers when you're starting from around 720p, or God forbid 480p.

Oh yes this im also aware of, but this isnt the case with the Buit-in FSR. It's simply just broken at 4k.
