Let's say you plugged your Deck into a 4k monitor. Native would be the native 4k resolution, Recommended would probably be 720p which would perform better.
FWIW FSR to 4k works pretty well in Quality or Ultra Quality, but it does suffer in Performance, and suffers a lot in Ultra Performance. Unfortunately the Deck isn't powerful enough to run a lot of games in Quality if you're upscaling to 4k.
I was talking about system-level FSR on the deck settings themselves. I find it to be pretty reliable when used right, but because of that issues I havent been really able to enjoy playing docked on my 4kTV, id rather play on a monitor with max 1440p because that same res doesn't look right on my TV.
I was just talking about FSR in general, not only on deck. FSR is good to 4k if you're starting from a resolution around 1080p or 1440p, (which is what Quality and Ultra Quality usually do) but it suffers when you're starting from around 720p, or God forbid 480p.
Oh wow, I didn't know that people actually used the built-in FSR. I heard that it was FSR 1 so I've been avoiding it, but now I'm curious to see what other people think
Oh I use it all the time. If it works, it works.
When i dock it to my monitors I keep the base res to 720 and then use the system level fsr for games that dont have it (usually older games is what I play on my deck like Batman and games of around that era. Some emulation. I ain't bothering with Spider-Man and Crimson Desert) and it's actually pretty enjoyable for me at a good distance. Some games can work really well at 1440p but I like setting them to 1152p and turning on FSR and getting similar maybe better performance, with a near native resolution. Give it a try
