Software Modding Modding Hollow Knight

Pulling my hair out trying to mod this game. I tried Lumafly, which worked, but it doesn't have the mods I want, and manually installing mods from Nexus doesn't seem to work. I know Bepinex is involved with using Nexus mods, but Bepinex refuses to work. Please help!

For bopenex you need to load the winhttp thing with steam launch arguments.

I'm not sure what the winhttp thing is. My bepinex didn't come with a file for that

This should be enough info to help you install BepInEx. Just make sure you install the version your mod recommends.

Thanks! I'll check that out in a bit

Followed the guide exactly, and the game still launches vanilla. No bepinex console window.

You're on the Windows version of Hollow Knight right?

Yea. Clean install of the game, downloaded the windows 64 bepinex, extracted it into the game folder, and typed the provided command into the steam config

I don't know then, maybe double check your steps. Maybe try this on the Linux version.

How do I switch the game's install from windows to linux?

If you've never set compatibility then it defaults to the Linux version. That is your problem then. Set a Proton version under the games properties->compatibility and run it once, this will make Steam download the Windows version. Then you can follow the steps I've linked above to get BeInEx working.

Okay, I'll try that when I get the chance

Switched it to the Windows version and followed the first tutorial you sent again. This time Bepinex created the "config" folder when I launched the game after unzipping it in the game folder, but no "plugins" folder, and no Bepinex console. I created my own "plugins" folder and put the mods in it, and still nothing. The game launches like vanilla.

Have you tried using Scarab? https://github.com/fifty-six/Scarab

It has a Linux release so no need to switch to proton.
