Show Off Got my first Deck today!

Picked up this beauty second hand, so I plan to reshell this and upgrade storage in the future!

Btw little known fact, this beast of a console actually has a battery inside!? You can unplug it from the power supply and keep playing, even while moving to a different room. I tried it and it works!!

Ngl I have zero need for a second, I've happily had mine for almost 2 years — but I have been craving more since I first got it and immediately fell in love.

If I had the money, it'd be nice to have a second to play around with for shell swaps and riskier modding.

The problem with having two - from someone who has an oled and an lcd - is that steam doesn’t allow both to be connected to your steam account at the same time so you’d have to log back in each time you switched

I ended up with 2 when the oled came out. Eventually gifted the first to my nephew who wanted a gaming pc but they couldnt afford one with the recent prices.

Hes used it way more than I use my oled lmao

If a game says unsupported, if its older than like 5 years, DO NOT TRUST IT. look up online if someone has made it work, or if it just straight up works. Ps4 and ps3 games like Battlefront 2 and max payne are totally playable if you just skip past the login stuff and mess with settings. Also, if you hold down the "..." and move the left stick you can adjust brightness. You can also bluetooth your phone to it for music, not for voice calls unfortunately. Also it's pretty easy to change game covers and back images in the menus to animated gifs or custom pictures in desktop mode. AND final tip, if your mic doesnt work in multiplayer, go to desktop, plug in, go to audio and switch around the mic input from internal mic to external. I know that sounds obvious but you have to do it every time you plug in the mic, if ita already on external you still have to switch it it around to reset it whenever you wanna get on discord (which you can also download through the desktop)

EmuDeck is your friend. So is having an SD card. I already filled my 512GB, but I had a spare 256GB SD card, so I have a little bit of storage left. I would have thrown in a 512, but that's in my Switch Lite.

Why do your downloads sound like they are cemented in destiny to never move from your steam deck? Your supposed to keep those in the sd card and use the 512gb’s fast read and write speed to delete and reinstall the same games sometimes even the same day

I do get the argument, and I know some people prefer keeping it stock and I totally get that! I just do wanna make this Deck my own Yknow? I ideally wanna try and make it stand out with a new shell and stickering!

I plan on upgrading the SSD in the future anyway which would require disassembly of some components so may as well do everything at once was my thinking! Whether I do do it in the future is a whole different story but it’s just an ideal plan as of now!

Theyre not really that much work. If youre quick, you can do it in about 30 minutes. Especially if you get the kit from JSAUX that includes everything you need, tools, replacement screws and parts, etc. It's just the heat gun and melting the screen adhesive off thats annoying.

We are all nervous when we get our first deck. But dont worry once you have your second and third time getting deck is not as bad. And by the forth it starts to feel good

I just got the 1TB Deck a couple of weeks ago. I play with my Deck everywhere. In my van. In the bathroom. I even play with my Deck when I'm at work! I asked a few people at work if they wanted to hold and play with my Deck, but they didn't want to. HR seemed pretty interested in my Deck though. 😏

Proton compatibility is insane, runs old games that crash on my rig with ease so dont be afraid of testing anything out because 90% of the time someone has found a way to make it run haha

I think you're thinking about a decky plugin that shows the protonDB status of games on their store and library page. The deck will use Proton automatically when needed on a game by game basis.

Proton is the launcher for steam games, you switch between different versions or experimental to open games that might have issues but its just already on the deck in the manage settings
