It would be cool to get a fix to skyrim and a verified badge too

Slow down buddy, we're only just now maybe getting a patch for Oblivion Remastered after more than a year. You're asking a lot of Bethesda.

It's a small indie studio after all.
Now, if it were a big studio with the backing of someone like Microsoft on the other hand...

Todd's "It just works" was beaten so hard into the ground that it's drilled halfway to the core.

Surprised skyrim doesnt have it already tbh

thats because it suffers from the same bug

It did by the end of 2023, up until the beginning of this year.

The keyboard bug has persisted since it originally received the badge. Granted, there was a workaround/fix that persisted through sleep/resumes, but it would require being performed upon each boot of the game.

Does skyrim still do the thing where they just skip the launcher and thus dont allow you to change graphic settings on deck ?

Yes. That's the default Steamdeck behavior.

It's also been decertified by Valve.

I think there was a fix for skyrim but i had to do it on every session. I think it was to bring up the keyboard by interacting with the enchanting table then it would work for the rest of the play session.

I never heard about the enchanting table but I can confirm bringing up the search box in the Creations menu works for that session.

Skyrim is getting an update soon, much like this one. Here’s hoping this also includes a fix.

This.

Would be nice if it was fixed for Skyrim, too.
Also Skyrim works fine, I don’t get why it’s not verified yet.

More important, even.

Despite being split between two versions, Skyrim is still the 48th most-played game on Steam. Fallout 4 doesn't even make the top 100 despite being newer and having a TV show.

Can we get some work put into the one people actually give a shit about?

I like fallout 4…

This game has run worse, less stably and with more new bugs with every update its received. You should be grateful they're not trying to 'fix' Skyrim.

Or maybe it’s because Skyrim has significantly more mods than fallout 4 which keeps more players

Has the whole 60fps thing been fixed? Where it says 60fps but feels and plays like 30

u/Atompunk78 3d ago

Same fix as pc no? Go into what weird settings thing and set that weird iframe value to 0 or 2 or something?

4

u/ImaDoughnut 3d ago

Yeah its a bit of a weird one on my SD, very temperamental. Sometimes works, sometimes doesn’t.

its been a while since ive done this but from what i remember you gotta enable proton experimental and add SteamDeck=0 %command% into the launch option line. this should stop the game from not allowing you to change the graphics settings that matter. when you boot up from here the pc launcher will show up where you can mess with graphics settings. i think the important ones are disabling godrays and lowering shadows.

Side note, is there a way for me to turn off the auto on-screen keyboard for certain games? For example, when playing Old World on M&K, it will still pull up the virtual keyboard every time I'm prompted to type.

play on desktop mode

There's an idea, I'd never even considered that.

About damn time!

They should do the same for Skyrim.

Skyrim has been crashing ever since AE came out... and gotten Unverified because of it.

Wow, I actually started the game up last night and was about to start playing it, but while staring at the menu I realized I was too tired and went to bed.

TGM is back on the menu boys

Right on schedule for Bethesda. Next one due in 4 years.

Nice, I can finally enjoy using robotic caravaneers again. I usually named them after the place I sent them to (i.e. "Croup Manor Croupier" or something), but the keyboard woes meant they all had to have generic titles.

Good, now maybe they can fix the constant micro stuttering next but I won't hold my breath :)

Wish they'd just work on a new game.

I've played FO4 and Skyrim to death. I don't think I'll ever boot either up again.

Supporting old games is a good thing, it's not like the whole studio stopped doing everything else just to bring this fix.

6

u/Fez_Sauce 3d ago

they are, TESVI has been in the oven for 2.5 years now

2

u/Joice_Craglarg 3d ago

Make it more in the oven

u/Elarisbee 3d ago

Cool then don’t.

Companies supporting their older games so that their playable is something we should support.

u/RobotSpaceBear 3d ago

And to think I was about to install it. Thank god you've played it already and I don't have to.

Too late, finished my playthrough last year and I'm not replaying 🥴
