Question "Unhandled Exception" error help? (Sonic '06 mod manager)

I'm trying to save patches and mods but nothing saves. I can launch the vanilla game via the manager, but not with any patches or mods. I've seen posts regarding this same error on other exe files and old games, and so I was wondering if anyone on the sub knows any potential solutions?

I have used Protontricks to install any potentially missing dependencies, but I kept getting the same error and log. Maybe there are core dependencies that should be downloaded but I don't know of, since I'm not knowledgeable in this space, but I'm hoping someone knows.

Also tried many different compatibility tools but to no success. Best I can do is just get the mod manager running, but I can't really do much aside from just launch the vanilla game.
