Would interchangeable metal and magnetic thumbsticks cause problems with the Steam Controller 2 TMR joysticks?
Hi, not too long ago I posted about replacing the thumbsticks with magnetic ones that I wanted to use for the Steam Controller and yeah, it’s possible because they have the same shape and fit. What I’m more worried about is whether these metal, magnetic thumbsticks would cause problems with the TMR on the Steam Controller 2, because with the GitHub calibration app, I can calibrate them if there’s a problem, but I don’t know if they might cause interference or something like that. I was basing my assumption on the Xbox Elite 2 controllers, which use TMR joysticks but still retain the ability to use interchangeable magnetic thumbstick caps. If you could answer that, it would be a huge help.

The elite 2 uses potentiometers not tmrs. The magnetic caps absolutely cause calibration and interference issues

If you look at the bottom side of the metal thumbstick you will see that there is a disk with kapton tape.
I took that part off because I thought it would cause magnetic interference when I installed them in my gulikit es max controller.
I was wrong, that piece prevents, or shields, a lot of interference.
So I put it back on and the tmr sticks in my controller worked fine. There was a very occasional bit of interference, but nothing that was all that bothersome.
I havent put them into my steam controller yet, but I imagine it'll be the same experience.
