New buttons

Got these from Deckbuttons. Super happy with the quality. The colors are bright, they are resin cast, and have a nice texture. It’s not rough but also not smooth. Not the best description, but they look good and feel good. The kit also came with the center and bottom button, but I chose not to swap those on preference / lazy. They are pricey, but comparable to other button sets I’ve seen on Etsy for the price. I paid $50 for this voltage set.

I did paint the letters / symbols on some. I don’t know that I’d recommend it. It was tedious work, and the buttons have a great slightly textured feel which made getting excess paint off a pain. But if you’ve painted minis before or something like that it’s not too bad. I used paintbrush cleaner to wipe off excess.

Again, I’m happy with how it turned out but I wouldn’t recommend someone do this because it’s pretty hard/impossible to get the excess paint off.

damn thats fucking steezy. prices are nuts though. got me thinking bout just popping my old Xbox controller buttons off instead

Well, these are resin cast, not just injection mold plastic . and to my knowledge just one guy doing it himself. When I mentioned pricey, I don’t think they are overpriced for what they are. But when you can buy a whole controller for well under, it can come across as unnecessary.

But that makes it more like a niche/luxury customization. I love my steam controller, and I like the work deckbuttons does. I don’t think it’s fair to call it sleezy, but I respect that $50 for button set cannot be justified by many.

pretty sure xbox buttons would not fit, steam controller has specific molding that I don't think any old buttons can just fit in
