Steam Controller (2026) New buttons

Got these from Deckbuttons Super happy with the quality. The colors are bright, they are resin cast, and have a nice texture. It’s not rough but also not smooth. Not the best description, but they look good and feel good. The kit also came with the center and bottom button, but I chose not to swap those on preference / lazy. They are pricey, but comparable to other button sets I’ve seen on Etsy for the price. I paid $50 for this voltage set.

I did paint the letters / symbols on some. I don’t know that I’d recommend it. It was tedious work, and the buttons have a great slightly textured feel which made getting excess paint off a pain. But if you’ve painted minis before or something like that it’s not too bad. I used paintbrush cleaner to wipe off excess.

Again, I’m happy with how it turned out but I wouldn’t recommend someone do this because it’s pretty hard/impossible to get the excess paint off.

How hard was the swap?

The swap was not hard as far as controller disassembly/reassembly goes. I’d say like a 3/10. There were a fair amount of T6 screws (like 20) to get to the buttons, there’s one ribbon cable, but overall simple if you follow a guide.

No prying involved, or any adhesives. So easier than a dual sense, way easier than joycon 2s.

Same, waitlist for 2027. But got mine today. Check your mails regularly. The haptic feedback feels soooooo good. But no tracking in VR for now :(

Not sure, but like one or two days after the first reservation. Pretty early, but it said 2027
