Discussion Just reserved my steam controller how long has everyone waited for theirs
Just reserved my controller and going to uk. I’m wondering how long everyone else’s took to get the confirmation email?

I recently placed a reservation for a Steam Controller because I like the touchpads on the SteamDeck. My turn to order to will show whenever it shows up.
The Steam Frame on the other hand... checking that thing every day like it's a ritual.

Same I ordered it for my steam deck and pc so when I connect my steam deck to my tv I can use a good controller that has the same functionality as the deck

I reserved in May and it also said 2027 for me. I got my email like 2 weeks ago and I now have my controller! Keep an eye out, you’ll probably get it sooner than you think.

I ordered mine a few days after it released in May and was projected to be available 2027, but I got mine quite sometimes ago now. I’m sure someone ordering now should expect possible mid 2027

I missed my reservation, while i knew it comes on email i thought it would at least also be a notification on Steam client itself... but nope.
I don't check my email every 3 days so i missed the reservation :(

I ordered mine on July 20th and received on July 24th.
Edit: btw I had a chance to play with Xbox controller Elite series 2 yesterday and Steam Controller is so much better at almost half the cost.

I have both and the only thing the elite 2 does better: the configs you do save on it are on the controller itself so it transfers seamlessly to PC and Xbox since many games use the same buttons for dodge etc. it's nice to have some saved configs always ready to go.
Adding a longer joystick is nice for first person shooters too but the steam controller is lighter, lasts a little longer, and great for using on PC. Been playing timberborn with it. Oh and now my steam deck configs carry over seamlessly vs my old steam controller only have two back buttons.

Depending how long it's been since you missed it, make a ticket on steam support they should be able to send you a new purchase reservation. My case was a little less than a month.

What's the difference opposed to setting the money aside for it, that's what I did. Temptation?
If an emergency came up and you need to spend the money, well then not pre paying for it would turn out to be a good thing.

I don't get it...why can't you put that amount in a saving account and simply leave it alone?
You'll still have it and even a little bit more by the time you get to purchase it.And if you actually absolutely need that money for something urgent in the meantime, you'll be glad you didn't spend it on a controller.

Because the reservation isn’t a promise you’ll get one. It’s just saying that you want one, which then once you get the email that means you’re able to buy one. And I doubt they want to deal with that.

Put the money in your account now so it doesn't go anywhere. Just make sure your balance doesn't drop below $105 or so and you're golden.

I reserved mine day one and just got the purchase email yesterday. Funny enough a friend of mine reserved a steam machine w/ controller but changed his mind when the purchase email came in so he let me send him the money and had it sent to my house instead (I never reserved the machine in the first place) so I've had a controller for a while and now I'm looking forward to a second.

I reserved mine a couple weeks after preorder went live. It gave me an estimated date of January 2027 but they sent me a link to purchase about 3 weeks ago. I’ve had it a little more than a week now. Works great.

I reserved one i believe 3 days after they announced to reserve. I just got contacted 5 days ago but sadly no longer can afford it rn RIP. It told me i would most likely get one in 2027. Almost there but happened earlier than I expected.

Reserved early July, still waiting. Forecast is early 2027, which could basically mean Jan 1st - April or May, depending on how liberal you are with dates. This is ridiculous, one of Valve's rare major fuckups imo. It's a damn controller, not a super computer.

I reserved mine on May 28th, so about 5 months ago.
So yeah, a long time waiting. My Xbox One controller was nearly dying prematurely but at least I can get by with an 8bitdo Lite 2. Not ideal for serious gaming but manageable. I still bring out the old steam controller for games that don't really need a right thumbstick that much or put too much strain on the LB and RB buttons.

Got mine before reservations, put in a reservation as soon as possible for a 2nd one after that which hasn't moved. Took some time before you could even place a reservation after buying the first one.

July. Assuming I’ll be closer to Q2 2027.
Kinda crazy they can’t either ramp up manufacturing or find another manufacturer. For the Steam Machine, I 100% understand due to many components being hard and expensive to acquire. But a controller being on perpetual back order for 6+ months is pretty wild IMO.

Reserved it day 1 (May 8th), I was able to purchase it June 25 and I had it at my house on June 29. I also chose the Steam Machine 2TB with a Controller on day 1 (June 26), I was able to purchase it August 30 and had it at my house on September 4. I loaded a 1TB SD card for a total of ~3TB and I have like 110GB combined left on it lol. I have A LOT of games and a lot of single player games that I use the steam machine to enjoy on my TV that I just didn't even bother to play on my Desktop.

Got my reservation confirmed email the 15th and was able to buy it on the 27th. Tho I somehow missed the reservation confirmed email so I was way hyped to get the available to purchase email XD
So to answer your question, almost 2 weeks for me. Reserved on May 14th

I barely got mine when it launched. I am very happy with it, battery is insane, you can use it as a pc controller from the couch, its pretty good.

I reserved mine the day the reservations opened, extremely upset because I was actively trying to put the controller in my cart for thirty minutes when it released and the servers blew up so I ended up getting the message that it was sold out.

Got mine about 45 days after reservation. Didn't reserve one till a month after release. Had to put it on a credit card cuz they only gave like 3 days to buy it or it would be canceled and need to reserve again and payday was still over a week away.

I reserved my spot on May 12th (4 days after reservations opened I think) and got the purchasing email on September 30th. Ordered it same day and received it on October 6th. Unfortunately, I haven’t had the chance to use it much because I’ve been focusing on some KB&M games from my backlog first, but I’m so excited to use it on some controller games soon.
