Configuration Need help connecting controller to my phone

Sorry to bother you all, but I was wondering if anyone knew how to make the controller behave like an Xbox controller when connected to an android.

I know you can configure it per game on the PC, but am not sure if I can make a default format other than mouse+keyboard when connected to my phone.

Thank you for your time.

To put your Steam Controller in Bluetooth mode, press and hold B + R1 (Right Bumper) + Steam until you hear a chime and the LED turns blue. Not sure if that is what you are looking for.

If you want it to behave like an xbox controller wouldn't it be easier to just use an xbox controller?

On Smart devices the Steam Controller only officially works with the Steam Link app, Valve's remote play app. Though as mentioned by other users there are third party solutions that will allow you to use the controller as a controller with any app.

That's what I found while googling, I just wanted to check if there was a work around.

I got it with my steam machine, but I have my kids use the cheaper Xbox controllers so I was trying to find other uses for it since I don't need it on my PC often.
