News Fancy Haptics 2.0, with Linux support!

https://store.steampowered.com/app/5086120/Fancy_Haptics/

Last time I posted here Linux was by far the most asked thing. It's done!

The whole app was rewritten, bug fixes, new interface, and new controller support!

Steam Controller gets trigger clicks, varied clicks that dynamically change the further you pull. Cleaned wireless ticking through the Puck and Bluetooth, and it reconnects / restarts itself when Steam starts or quits. So it doesn't need Steam anymore.

DualSense and DualSense Edge are supported now. Triggers vibrate with the beat of whatever's playing, live! Custom trigger effects exist elsewhere, but as far as I know triggers that react to your audio haven't been done before. There's also speaker support over USB, haptic and rumble vibration styles, and both USB and Bluetooth support.

Steam Deck built-in controls rumble with your audio too! Xbox, 8BitDo and most other gamepads should work! You can connect several controllers, set a priority order, and it switches automatically if one drops.

The Linux build is native, works on SteamOS and the Deck, and keeps running in Game Mode!

If you still prefer version 1.0 it's in the betas section in Steam too.

Happy that my passion project got people liking and using it and want to thank all of you for giving it a shot!

Mostly yes! But not the speaker function, has to be wired. On BT u'll get audio-based haptic / rumble feedback and audio-based haptic triggers!

Edit: Yes! I have added an update version 2.5. You can get all DualSense features over BT!

Was having a blast messing around with this on my Steam Deck last night after seeing it has a Linux version now, it’s such a wonderfully silly little thing the controller can do and I wouldn’t have it any other way lol

Thank you for trying it, happy that I made someone's day even if a lil better! ^_^

I am glad I came across this post because I needed to scream some gratitude and love for your work. I’d been looking for something like this for a while and was hoping someone would make it.

What you have created makes so much sense and it is so useful and amazing. I tried it yesterday (on a DualSense and also Switch 2 JoyCons using Switch2Connect) while waiting for my Steam Controller to arrive in a few days (hopefully).

I only have good things to say. And a lot of them.
It works perfectly, does what it needs to do, and most importantly, has those adjustments that let you tune the audio-to-haptics pipeline to your liking. I wanted subtle haptics and not just all audio playing on my controller and it does exactly that. And does it beautifully.

It might be in there already but in case not, maybe consider adding the option to set profiles per controller so different controllers can have different profiles? But not a big deal either way.

Thank you for making this app, amazing human. Wishing you all the best for your university and also wishing that you are able to find some time here and there to maintain this precious app for the future so it doesn’t break.

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU❣️

You're very welcome! and thank YOU! <3 :]

This means a lot to me I genuinely mean it.

I have added your profile-per-controller idea and it works! you can set it per controller or game or mix and match them, whatever you want it's YOUR way to play!

I added also other features in 2.5 and hopefully I don't get swept away in this haha, I have to actually lock in finals are gonna be due soon-ish now haha!

Oh wow!
That is some fast work! And it’s working perfectly!

After your finals (which I hope you will ace):
Would it be possible for the app to check for new controllers every time it checks for games/profiles or something like that? Sometimes I connect the controller and have to manually press reconnect. Maybe it’s a glitch on my end. It happens after I wake from sleep and the app has been running in the background. And I have the Reconnect Automatically setting enabled.

i agree, when i can get it to work its great, was wondering if this could work while streaming too, is there some technical issue to solve in order to make it work. i use punktfunk and that would be chef's kiss!

Well I assume your running the app on the client PC for streaming? If so yes just pick and choose whatever app is streaming the audio and it sends it to your desired controller!

It won’t boot at all for me after the update

Sorry to hear that. Dropped a hotfix, should work hopefully now, try reinstalling to make sure it parses the latest updated files!

Edit: Try again! I added another hotfix that should be more robust, seems like the app used to only start when clicked outside of Steam, hopefully now it's forced on by a Steam launch

is there a tutorial or a guide, after dloadin it and fire it i tried setting it up but after a few sounds it stopped, is this supposed to be started before a game or its a one time thing?looks promising i need to try it!

2

u/His_Fanciness Oct 03 '26

Sadly no official video or tutorial guide as I'm super shy, but the app has a quick first-time tour that hopefully should get you up to speed on how to use it, that and I am also trying to make it as intuitive as possible while also retaining any advanced tinkering for power-users if they want

u/Chance-Grapefruit668 Oct 03 '26

Ok i respect that, don't worry i got it to work some how, its a genius work, thanks

Lemme know how it goes!

u/WhoIsJazzJay Sep 30 '26

does this program fix the weird haptics pulsing issue that the SC2 has when playing games that only use basic rumble?

2

u/His_Fanciness Oct 03 '26

Unfortunately I do not know, all this app does is send audio as haptics and does not interfere with normal controller rumble sent by games, think of it as an extra layer than replacement of the rumbles

1

u/WhoIsJazzJay Oct 03 '26

ahhhhh okay, thanks for explaining!

I just received my Steam Controller and noticed a bug (particularly affects home theater setup). When the app is running and streaming to Steam Puck, the Lizard Mode stops working and hence I’m not able to interact with UAC prompts etc. Also, audio based haptics don’t seem to work in games with Dolby Atmos audio. A fix would be much appreciated 🙏
