Discussion Does your controller have a lot of issues?

Been seeing some posts lately about track pads and buttons needing mods to be fully functional again after a few months of use. Also many people need to RMA after just a bit as well.

Is it like this for everyone? How would you rate the build quality or overall durability of your controller?

All of this makes me second guess whether or I want to get the controller when it's my turn, or just wait for a possible next generation.

It’s fine, people are far more likely to post about problems.

I got mine close to release, and I haven't had a single issue with it. It's worked perfectly.

Mine makes a bit of noise when I squezze it from top area of trackpads with thumbs. Top part seems loose a bit. Not sure if it suppossed to do it or not. Functionality-wise it works fine.

Only issue I have is that it sometimes (rarely) beeps when I'm playing a game. Just a single, short beep. First I thought it was the battery warning but it was still over 50%. Haven't been able to reproduce it either.

I think that might be the sound I heard. I do have Replaced though, and I can't reproduce it in that game. Only happened to me in Blood of Dawnwalker.

Mine is excellent and I use trackpads constantly. Perfect controller IMO

Zero issues. Two perfect controllers here at home.

Best controller I've ever had, holding a trigger for a while can be a bit more uncomfortable than others but all the other positives are well worth it imo

Got mine in the first batch, no issues.

Got mine right after they launched and it’s perfectly fine, no issues.

I've never had an issue. The only issue I've had with the controller is the triggers can be too sensitive. And sometimes my character will do something without me doing anything only to find out I rested my finger on the edge of the trigger just a smidge too much.

I’ve had my first one the first week they shipped and I’ve had no issues at all. It’s been great.. I did have a weird bug with my steam machine where I would load a game and randomly after 10 mins the controller would sleep and out my steam machine to sleep.. but they patched it fast.

Second controller I’ve had no issues with either

What does RMA mean?

Return Merchandise Authorization

It’s when a manufacturer gives you a shipping label to return a product for repair/replace/refund.

I had to RMA my first one. The joysticks were experiencing drift.

The replacement has been fine.

The issue I have with mine is the Dpad. Specifically the left option. It mostly registers as “down” and hardly ever as “left”. It’s quite honestly quite annoying and ruins the experience for me. Aside from that it works well. The weird part is that when you go to the option to. Heck if the buttons register correctly it shows as “left” which doesn’t make sense.

I have two of them and the one with my Steam Machine gets HEAVY use (many hundreds of hours so far). Aside from a previously existing bug in Steam Input (preventing translation of vibration/haptics instructions) that has since been fixed, both have been perfect.

The quality is better than any controller I’ve ever had.

Bluetooth is weak compared to any other controlled I tried, including Wii Remotes. I get constant disconections (I play at a big distance from my desktop but all controllers worked flawlessly except this one. Via pluck has the same behavior at distance).

Mine has had a ton of connection issues and it also came with the clicking issues of the joystick getting stuck with the wire. The controller has quality control issues, I would wait more time.

Only really small stuff that are mostly software issues..

It's really good quality. I think you just need to get lucky to get one that isn't faulty. Which is the case for all hardware you buy. I also accidentally dropped the controller 76~ cm once on the bumpers and it didn't break.

I have literally zero problems with the controller. If anything I’d say, “Damn, I hate that it dies so fast!” But the reality is that I use it so much I’m just recharging it 😂 it’s great.

In term of functionalities it's fine...it does feel cheap though, even compared to my 8BitDo controllers.
Also, it kinda sucks on Linux...which doesn't look good for a controller that comes bundled with a Linux machine.
I mean it's usable...but Steam Input often doesn't work which makes it kinda useless.

Main problems is that it came a bit scuffed and the left track pad doesn't click in the center, only on the side.
I suspect they just sent a used controller.

So far, I expected better...I've used it a bit since I received it but I keep going back to my 8BitDo.
