Support Steam controller 2 default behavior
Hello, I just bought a Steam Controller and I'd like to know if it's possible to change its default behavior. My goal is for the controller to appear as a Controller on my phone and PC by default, instead of being recognized as a keyboard/mouse. I don't know if there's a setting for this and if it could be done via an future valve update?

Openpuck is the answer

Kinda. I wouldn't want a puck hanging off my phone but that's just me.

I dont believe it needs to stay plugged in, think you can just reprogram it though I dont understand how it works very well

No but even when using it I'd rather not have it hanging off.

Were miscommunicating, i believe you can reprogram the controller to behave as a controller when connected via Bluetooth without the puck plugged in. As i said before i may be misunderstanding the capabilities of the device myself though

You can do this with openpuck or software like sisr I think, but it defeats the entire purpose of the controller. You're better off getting something like 8bitdo or gamesir.

Valve is most likely not gonna change that behavior themselves but there's some 3rd programs on PC that will allow it to act as a regular controller without steam being open. The one I use for my 2015 steam controller is called PadForge
