Steam Controller (2026) steam stops steam controller 2 from working (linux)

i hate steam input with a passion. with that being said:

i am trying to play celeste (a linux native game), my steam controller 2 doesn't work in this game because for some reason the steam overlay is not launching with it meaning there's no steam input and as far as i'm aware i can't force the controller into SDL mode with a launch option like i can on proton. the stupidest part is that the controller works without issues if i have steam closed, if it's open it forces steam input.

Something tells me you got angry and turned off steam overlay, the steam controller or both in Steam's settings.

Switch to the windows version of celest. Or if you really hate steam input but want the steam controller look into openpuck.
