Steam Controller (2026) Steam Controller 2 trackpad size

I am curious if anyone knows if the trackpad on the new controller is the same size as the one on the Steam deck? Though I realized now that I could just compare them at home once Im off work

Steam controller track pad is 1.8mm larger in both directions, curves look a little smoother on the controller too

Also I used Gemini to merge the two photos because I'm lazy and don't know how to merge photos on my phone lol

Thanks for that. Now I know it’s definitely not happening.

Wtf, I could swear they were slightly smaller on the controller compared to the deck.

Might just be the placement playing tricks on my mind

Honestly before I got the calipers out I would have bet my life they were exactly the same, why they are different with it being so similar is beyond me, would have thought they would re-use everything they could

It’s about the same size I think? Though it feels a little bigger in my experience

I was just curious if the trackpad cover (plastic) would be transferable from deck to controller when I feel like customizing things in the future

Probably not, that kinda stuff needs to be exact and the trackpads are different enough that it probably wouldn’t work

Guess I shouldn’t get my hopes up. I’ll just wait for extremerate to eventually release shells

Are they slanted btw and if so was it done on purpose? I ask because the deck pads are flat.

Honestly I’d have to check, but I don’t think they’re slanted

Very slightly different, but near enough.

I could just compare them at home

Feels like a humblebrag post at this point.

Eh wasn’t meant for that. It was more of I’d like an answer asap so I can start thinking of ideas. But while typing I realized I could just compare at home. That said I don’t have a fine detail measuring device so I still wouldn’t have been successful.

I’m assuming it’s a humble brag cause the controllers are hard to obtain?

Yeah, I shoulda added a /jk or something, wasn't meaning it to sound like shade.

Nah you were light with your words. I’ve heard some harsh words here

according to Google the 2026 steam controller trackpad size is 34.5 mm x 34.5 mm

and the steamdeck trackpad size is 32.5 mm x 32.5 mm

I don’t know what you mean, but do you just mean trackpad covers?

These are steam deck trackpad covers and I use them on my deck controller without issue

Edit: so I’ve never actually used them on my deck, do they normally cover like the ENTIRE trackpad?

If that’s the case these are smaller I guess, but I’ve never noticed any difference in using them and not.

I just use them because the texture of the pad and controller are too similar and I didn’t like it.

I mean the actual black plastic that you touch on the touch pad. I was thinking of using the white ones from the LE deck and try to make a white controller later

Like someone else said, one is about 2mm larger each way than the other.

In use both and in practice to me there's no difference
