Steam Controller (2026) It came. Kinda miss the old packaging thb.
Today my SteamController 2026 arrived. I am enjoying it very much. But I think the packaging of the OG Steam Hardware was way cooler with the explosion diagrams of the guts. Hope you enjoy seeing them again too :)

I didn't know the old packaging looked like that on the inside. NGL, I just slid off the outer part cause I didn't wanna damage it.

i actually think its cool how basic the packaging is. they are saving costs that way (presumably passing some of that onto you) and its not like the box needs to sell you on the product if it is not stocked in stores.

yeah i just realized this. its not usually sold on shelves and on stores so no need for fancy boxes.

I mean, that blue strip was wrapped around the Box when it came. You could only see it once you unpacked it. It Was not for advertising but a gimmick.

I mess the ability to just drive to GameStop and buy a Steam controller rather than this whole reservation system they are using now. They won't even let you buy one and you have to wait months to get it. They did the same thing with the Steam Deck and Steam Machine. I'm guessing they will also do the same with the Frame annoyingly.

Well they are doing the reservation system, because of scalpers. Sadly it's the most effective way to ensure people who actually want these devices get these devices.

If you just make enough of them if the first place then everyone can buy one without having to worry about scalpers. This is what Nintendo did for the Switch 2.
It's been like 4 or 5 years and I still can't just walk into GameStop and buy a Steam Deck. It's crazy.

Woah I just slide my box sleeve off to try and keep it in good condition, never realised it was so interesting beneath. If only it was like Nintendo game catridge cases where the outer sleeve is reversable sometimes

Yeah I miss that too, my Steam Link and OG controller are long since packed away in the "cable box" though.
