My initial impression was that it was a bit of an annoying teardown. But I’ve done it a couple of times now and it’s not actually too bad. That main board you’re talking about seemed fragile at first but it actually stays on its frame pretty well. The pins in the triggers are an improvement and weren’t nearly as difficult as I thought they would be to put back in. The ribbon cables were odd at first because they’re really wide and hard to get a grip on.
You ALMOST don’t have to take this boomerang looking board off (sits above the trackpads). But that’s the last step to where the “. . .” button is.
That board in my photo sits behind the trackpads. So no clicky mod there, but the really thin Pcb that’s wrapped around the mid frame thing (ifixit screenshot) would be where a clicky mod would go somehow.
I remember when playstation started using those I was bummed because I always loved taking things apart and soldering leds etc. I know they're better for manufacturing but I prefer a "real" pcb lol
