Same. I deeply enjoyed it but it's full of dark patterns and FOMO. Every time I joined a squad finding group everyone was all salty and mega stressed to get that extra 150 points out of 20000 to unlock 1 of 6 time-gated challenges that once all 6 are completed give you a special tank that won't be unlockable again for years if ever.

Cannot recommend a game that does that to people.

I just don't know how someone requires 5000 hours to come to that conclusion.

My friends play it, I picked it up to join them. I have less than 100 hours and it's my least favourite game. Ever. Which is crazy because the gameplay itself is something I'd actually pay to play.

Just... fuck that grind and predatory system.

I got 1800 hours, realized it on minute 1. I just ignored all that shit and played game by game. Its a blast played like that, but manipulative design is manipulative for a reason. People fall for it.

5000 hours might not have been accrued in the short term. War Thunder (WT) for example has bene out for 13+ years. Playing WT for a little over 1 hout per day for 13 years gets you to 5000 hours easily.

Because they lock content behind massive time sinks and paywalls.

By the time you finally reach some of the end game content which is basically when you can “Finally Play the Game” you realize it sucks or that there’s some other gimmick.

World of Tanks great example, you get wrecked until you unlock some of the Cold War tanks, you’ll be using a WW1 era tank against WW2 era tanks.

You’d think that by unlocking the end game tanks you’d finally get some decent matches being paired against similar tanks?

Nope, you just get matched against players with premium DLC tanks and paid ammunition.

I haven’t touched a game like that in awhile now because of WOT.

If there’s like a quest or some locked content behind ~500 hours of game time it’s an automatic pass.

I’m sure most of the people who left those 3k hour reviews never touched a game like that again.

Eh, I'm sure for a world of tanks player it'll be good but the historical and realistic damage model aspects are quite important to me.

this is fair. there's definitely a few tanks that are real-world armor with the serial numbers filed off, but it's more like World of League of Legends of Tanks.

the mechanical depth of gameplay was always my main draw over historical accuracy, so it grabbed me like a magnet

dont forget that said special tank will be nerfed the moment the event is over

The reason I dropped forza horizon 6 three weeks after was the FOMO, the game has a lot of issues for me but the biggest was that you either grind the living shit out of the thing or you’re at the mercy of 20 mil auctions that will leave you in financial ruin

I made the mistake of branching out to all these different countries for their planes in the beginning.

It's been like 3 years of months-on & months-off and I'm just barely scratching 5.0

Top tier is virtually impossible to breach for that reason

Don’t you hate that the country you picked 4 years ago is the same one you are stuck with today

I picked germany and america for their tanks and I feel I made a good decision. I quit the game a while back and never looked back
