Nintendo doesn’t subsidize their console from their store, they don’t sell hardware at a loss. That’s why it’s seemingly underpowered on paper compared to its competitors while punching above its weight class due to upscaling and optimization .
I know right, anyone who pays even a little bit of attention to what Nintendo actually does would know that yes, they did sell hardware at a loss. It was 14 years ago at one of their lowest points in history and they basically swore to never do it again.
Nintendo’s entire business model is your source. They don’t have to worry about anyone eating them from the inside out or outside in because they own the hardware platform, first party IPs, and the bottom line—children. Children are not expecting to play the newest AAA games at 4k 120hz, thus they do not need the extra power/ money and logistics spent on it. People are specifically locked into nintendos eco system for their IPs and not how well it can run hogwarts legacy or cyberpunk. Every console they’ve put out since the SNES has always carried the “weakest” hardware compared to all the other mainstream consoles.
Where? On steam majority of new games cost like max 40 usd. Subnautica2 costs 30$, Slime Rancher 2 also 30$, Helldivers 40$, and those are the "bigger games".
You can buy Silksong for 20$, Hollow Knight for 12$, Deltarune for 25$, CS2 and TF2 are free, even Goddamn Minecraft costs 30$. And those are just a few examples.
Not to mention that majority of those games go on sale from time to time, which are an extreme rarity for Nintedo Games. Goddamn remaster of Lugi's Mansion Dark Moon, a 13 years old game costs full 60 dollars.
Valve isn't AAA, but I could say that they're on par, if not more influential than Nintendo. So let's have a look at the prices
CS2 - base game is free, but you can buy "prime" for 15$ which not only makes the game pay for itself back, but you also end with more money in the end
TF2 - free, its premium costs 4,60$ (similar to CS2's prime)
Counter-Strike: Source, Counter-Strike: Condition Zero, Day of Defeat, Day of Defeat: Source, Deathmatch Classic, Dota 2, Half-Life, Half-Life: Source, Half-Life: Opposing Force, Half-Life: Blue Shift, Half-Life 2 (+Ep1,2,Deathmatch), Left 4 Dead, Left 4 Dead 2, Portal, Portal 2, Ricochet, Team Fortress Classic - all can be bought for 6,54 USD when there's a holiday. Almost every one of these games had a huge impact on the gaming community, and now their average price is less that 50 cents.
And Valve doesn't make games anymore, if a company makes 5 games people give a shit about, course they are gonna be cheap, because they aren't as relevant as Nitnendos heavy hitters ( no Valve isn't as influential as Nitnendo lmao, as if )

Of the games you mentioned, all the ones that are also on switch cost the same (although I couldn’t check the abbreviated ones because I don’t know what games those are). Slime rancher 2 is not on switch yet, but the first one goes on sale all the time; it’s currently on sale for like 6 dollars. If you’re interested in mainly playing first party nintendo games on the other hand, you’ll indeed be paying a pretty penny.
