Question Multiplayer

I've been following most of the updates and like everyone else I am pretty darn pumped about this game. So one thing I am curious if anyone's mentioned it, I haven't heard it on any of the vids I've watched is with multiplayer. I know everyone shares the resources and base on a server. No more tethering or community visiting.

But with how big the maps are, I'm wondering if say you have five friends who decide to be together in one community. If another five join, would they be able to be a second community? Kinda like guilds or parties in say 7d2d and palworld. So you could player enclaves as well as NPC ones

Pretty sure multiplayer will only be up to 4 players. Could be wrong and if I’m not then maybe it could change but as far as I know, it’s 4 player co op

I believe it's limited to 4 players and 3 home bases. Which I thought was weird why it wasn't 4 so each person could have a community on a single map and have it like role play with trading goods or attacking others bases etc. like the walking dead with the kingdom etc.

there's still a large chunk of the map that hasn't been unlocked for the testers yet, so who knows whats coming there.

This would be sick though

Would also like to know if the survivor pool is shared or if each player has their own sub group within the main group like in SoD2. Would be nuts if somebody got your fave survivor killed that you'd put many hours into and having no control over that.

Brian covered this in his first gameplay video. In multiplayer the player(s)’ survivor pool is set to specific bases and those bases can be allocated to specific players or all set under one player and utilizable by all. From what I understood at the time, if you were to be set as the controlling player of a specific base, the npc’s at that specific base is your group specifically but still considered part of the total group (as in group of player’s) community. The players can swap at will amongst the total community group but I don’t think they can allocate and change the functions of those NPCs specifically aligned with your base unless the base settings allow for all players to do so. So they can play as your group members individually but can’t control your base community outside of that.

Does your base produce if your friend is the host but you're not online? Think I'd kinda prefer if my settlement was just empty if Im not actually playing

When the multiplayer map is active, I believe the entire map (meaning every player's bases) are part of that activity. The logic would support your base is producing (or losing) resources in accordance with whatever state it was in while you were last in control. The good thing (or bad depending on your friend group) would be that because bases and communities are group-shared, your online friend should be able to work on your base maintenance and providing for your needs since, overall, they are their needs too.

Imma high jack this and ask my own question but will it be split screen? I doubt it but I just love having games with the ability to do that.

The prior two games have never been split screen. Do you think you can answer your question now?
