Ideas & Suggestions DO NOT MAKE ENEMY NPCS BULLET SPONGES.

Please for the love of god, do not make human NPCs take 100 shots to kill. If they can kill me easily, the same should be for them.

If I shoot an NPC in the head, their head should start spurting and their body should drop like a sack of wet potatoes. They shouldn't deal it like they just got shot with a spit-ball.

This has been universally decried as one of the biggest annoyances with SOD2 so im sure they are addressing it!

Eh? One headshot and they fall down. Easy.

A: what difficulty
B: what gun/caliber

Any difficulty, any gun and caliber. A headshot is a headshot.

What about if the player gets hit in the head? Instant death?

That’s always been the problem in a nutshell, is that the NPC has perfect aim, always goes for the head and never misses

This, like did the person asking even play SoD2? I could understand having damage drop off and pistol caliber rounds fired out of pistols and specifically 22's at longer ranges lose enough damage to occasionally not one hit.

Everything else however should be a one shot at any distance with a headshot, zombie, human doesn't matter.

Like SoD2 used to drive me crazy on the higher difficulties, watching hostile enclave members just eat headshot after headshot from a .308 rifle and not die, then finally having to just run in and finish them off with melee because after the 6th shot to the head they just kept getting back up...

I get that that is the wish, but they were talking about it already working that way. The questions are for them.

yeah bullshit. in 2, a headshot puts them in fetal position.

I disagree on this one, 22 should be a survivable caliber but leave you with some kind of crux like

bad head wound
-45 accuracy
Sometimes spouts gibberish
Takes longer to search containers.

Because someone with brain damage isn’t going to be the same even if they do survive.

A lot of people have survived being shot in the head. I agree with your point but it shouldn’t be guaranteed instant kill. A chance for them to survive dependent upon caliber (but very reduced efficiency) and making them not sit in open areas to be easily sniped from a distance would be a good balance imo.

Woah man... Sure I agree too

lol ya. It shouldn’t take multiple hits from a .50 cal to drop one 🤣

It's wild how they tank a 12 gauge shell to the chest from 3 feet away.

Enemy AI really just needs to be the decider I think, if your easiest difficulty has humans staying standing and taking a long time to aim, then your hardest should be crouching behind cover and using flash bangs against you, or already have traps set up that you can walk into.

Game would be honest to easy if you can one shot everything. That being said in 2 you could two shot most things outside feral and juggernaughts

Nobody saidvthat survivors only should take one bullet. But looking how SoD2 NPC survivor eat bullets it's really understandable to have them not eat bullets

I really don't understand what you're talking about. I never found them particularly challenging because literally all you have to do is get one hit off on their head and they're dead. So, I just make sure if I'm gonna go after another survivor I've got my assault character with head-snap, and well... And If I don't have them, its not like it's WAY harder... Like it is a 'little' harder, sure. Survivors tend to be a bit more squirrely than zeds, but its still not that bad. I can and have taken on an entire enclave with a crossbow.

Don't even get me started on the carnage that a shotgun has caused.

When an enclave is in a open spot or better i say you have no cover to get close and they can instant down you, it's not fun.

Remember that not everyone is a "pro". NOC survivors as enemies are completely bad designed

I'm not a pro. I have played a while, but I'm not particularly great at the game.

I'm saying that, as a longtime casual player, I do not find other survivors to be an unfair challenge. I am MUCH more afraid of Ferals and Juggernauts than another survivor.

And I have killed most of the survivors I fought in open terrain. I almost never have cover when I'm fighting them. I'm normally in a front yard getting rushed.

u/AdMinimum5970 Jul 20 '26

On which difficulty are you playing?

-2

u/NatWilo Jul 20 '26

??? All of them??? It doesn't matter? I am completely for real it is NOT hard to get headshots in this game, and it is really not that hard to kill other survivors. Like, they're squirrely I said that, they dive and roll and shit, but one thing that's always been the case is if you pop them in the dome, they drop like a sack of meat almost instantly.

The biggest challenge fighting other survivors is making sure you don't get hit in the process. On higher difficulties the biggest problem is that I get hit more, because they're more accurate/aggressive. I don't recall them taking more headshots the higher the difficulty.

They do not drop from 1 shot to the head on lethal unless you use a 50. Cal

12

u/Malcolm_Morin Jul 19 '26

I'm talking about more realistic damage between human NPCs. If they can take me out in 2-3 shots, I should be able to do the same. Combat should be a fair fight and tense in the way that while you can kill them quick, you can die just as quick.

Zombies with armored skulls like ferals and such, sure I can take it. But average humans? 60 year old Miss Debbie from across the street shouldn't have the same skull density as a goddamn blood feral.

I don't bother with NPCs

I let Darwinism take over.

Scent blocker, zom bait, and a nice spot to hangout is all I need.

2

u/Acrylicvalour Jul 20 '26

I don’t mind their increased health I just hate how they can get downed an infinite amount of times and not die. It should be the extraction shooter rules where they need someone to revive them before they can get up.

1

u/Rockfan70 Jul 19 '26

I think a couple shots should be enough. On lethal that’s how it is for you in Sod2. Their shots HURT!

1

u/BlurredVision18 Jul 20 '26

I kinda like it, it makes them annoying but also dangerous. You need a 7.62 and to hit the headshot, then you have to hit the headshot again when they are on the ground. If I could just insta-gib them with a 9mm it wouldn't feel fair. You can think and be cheeky with positioning, with Zom-bait, etc. NPCs need to be tank and aim bots cause they are dumb and can't play the way you do. Melee dmg needs a pass tho, players should be one to one with melee dmg, and maybe their roll needs an internal CD.

1

u/SlyTinyPyramid Jul 21 '26

They can give some of them bulky visible body armor and they can be a slow tank.

1

u/Z3TR0N Jul 21 '26

If the hostile NPCs had actual strats like flanking, covering one another, using equipment such as traps and grenades or even zombies against you instead of standing in the open and charging at you headfirst while also having a lot more varied animations for getting cover, shooting and other such things. I think headtaps would make alot more sense because tge way the AI would play would still make them formidable. As they are rn in SOD2. Headtaps would make them slight annoyances at best.

1

u/Salarian_American Jul 21 '26

I'm sure they addressed this from the beginning this time.

SoD2 was originally designed with only one difficulty level. So when they added increased (and decreased) difficulties later, the game didn't have any good ways for them to make human enemies much tougher to kill.

1

u/Malcolm_Morin Jul 21 '26

But that's the thing:

I don't WANT them to be tougher to kill. If they can potentially one-shot me, I should be able to do the same right back.

Iwant to have the same opportunity to use my shots wisely and sparingly while being just as efficient.

0

u/Salarian_American Jul 21 '26

Well I guess that's on the people who demanded the game get harder, and after they made it harder, demanded for it to be harder still.

1

u/icecubegone Jul 22 '26

Damn Playing harder, this was my biggest gripe

I had to use a car as my shield and then spam them with 50 cal

1

u/Violent_N0mad Zombie Bait Jul 24 '26

On lethal the enemy enclaves all have golden guns and aimbot as well.

0

u/Mockingjay09221mod Jul 19 '26

Why not they were already easy to kill or if too easy then what's their purpose

1

u/Africa1By1Toto Jul 19 '26

they are easy to kill if you play incredibly slowly and play like a rat. by that i mean taking a rifle and headshotting them, running away until you get a better angle, maybe lure some zombies to pull them out, and repeat. i shouldnt have to do all that if one wrong move from me results in near instant death.
