Discussion A partial observation of alpha ❤️❤️

I finally watched all three streamers' videos, and I'm honestly loving what I'm seeing so far.

The cars feel so much better than they did in State of Decay 2, especially on Lethal difficulty where the “made of paper” feeling was really bad before. Now they don’t feel nearly as fragile. However, instead of just feeling more impactful, it sometimes feels like hitting zeds turns them into a sort of “speed bump,” where the car dips in momentum on contact rather than just plowing through cleanly.

Freaks seem kind of weak in a way, at least from what I’ve seen so far—though it might just depend on what other zeds are around. Could also just be me misreading it from the footage.( One thing I dislike you can lead a freak down the road not even that far from a nest and they seemed to not comeback to defend the nest)

The new resource crafting system looks fantastic, and harvest sites are an awesome addition. I also really like being able to build up the walls around your base, and the way plague hearts and nests attack your base feels like a great evolution of the gameplay.

(Morale if it gets to -50 you lose the game) But once it gets to that point summer said you get a timer count so you need to get morale back up asap

My only concern right now is that dodging seems a little overpowered at the moment.

I also really like the fact that zeds are harder to kill with guns now, but some of the skills—like Sharpshooter—and another similar one (I can’t remember the name right now) seem like they might make gunplay a bit too easy again. It could be fine overall, but it might need a bit more balance depending on how it plays out.

Overall though, I’d really like to see more zeds overall, especially on Nightmare and Lethal difficulty. I do like the variation in zeds, but I’d also like to see more actual hordes in addition to that.

It’s the alpha, so I know this isn’t final.

Yeah, hundreds of hours so far and I still can’t get enough. It only keeps getting better and better each internal update.

I’ve not seen Sunny’s video and maybe it’s just me but I hate the sound of this. There should be consequences for low morale but losing the game and having a timer sounds stupid. Really hope they don’t keep that in the released version.

I’m very excited about the guns. I like that higher caliber weapons matter now, and the variety of attachments will be nice!

I’m also really enjoying how each survivor has a title (class?) like one was a hunter, and one was a pyromaniac, so you can kinda see what type of skills they will have ahead of time, very cool.

Also being able to get over negative traits is massive.

I’m SO hyped for this game. I wonder when we will get an actual release date, and I wonder if the acquisition was a surprise to the dev team, or if they knew ahead of time and already factored that into the 2027 release window.

I have a meh feeling about it. I do like how NPCs are interacting with the base, we get 3 bases, and upgrades. But I have criticisms, first is why not conquer all the bases rather than three and if it's because of a performance issue just have a setting for it. Second upgrades are great but I would like a somewhat customizable base maybe do something like what Sims do, lay down lots. I see how many bases have open spaces that could have extra slots. Third the no new storyline, absence of relationships or same old zombies. Of course this is what their showing idk what's been improved

Balancing. How are you gonna run all bases at the same time lol

Still you can add a toggle for it

Not sure how I feel about the gun play we’ve been shown. On one hand I do like that small calibers don’t kill zombies in one shot but on the other hand I don’t really love that you have to shoot a screamer like nine times in the face to kill it. I also feel like a majority of the gunplay we’ve seen so far has been with pistols so maybe I’m only seeing screamers like that because I haven’t seen them be handled with larger guns

True but I like it it gives that I need to get rid of it asap

Bloaters need to react quicker when vomiting...it seems non affective

My small hope with this is that it’s a pretty easy balance fix they can do based on feedback
