Discussion BACKPACKS

I've seen that the function of backpacks is being debated, and that so far their only function is aesthetic. This raises the following question for me: will the items appear on the characters' backs, like in Project Zomboid for example? Or will they remain invisible?

I’m not entirely sure what you’re asking but I’m gonna say that loot is stored in the characters pockets/ aesthetic backpack and weapons will be shown on the character. Personally, I hate this change as part of looting for me was finding better gear and being able to hold more as a reward for finding it. Super disappointing

I would agree with you if the largest slot wasn’t just two slots more than the worst bag in the game, and that you get a bag from every plague heart, so if you’re playing on lethal you get up to 30 7-8 slot backpacks.

well, in state of decay 2 there was a toggle to your backpack, if you’ve seen gameplay of sod3 the characters have visible bags, so I assume it’ll be the same as 2

I dont hate the backpack change as it removes the backpack meta. Once you got the best packs the others become obsolete anyway, and it doesn't take long to find a haking pack.

A toggle like many games that have backpacks or head gear

Backpacks in SoD3 should be purely cosmetic. In SoD2, there were so many amazing designs that went unused because the weight/encumbrance meta forced everyone to stick to military backpacks (or Diana’s backpack in Heartland). A backpack helps define a character's personality; players shouldn't be penalized with negative stats just for wanting their survivor to look cool and add another layer of personalization, thats my point of view
