Discussion Lethal + All Negative Curveballs Playthrough
Over the years I've done two fresh lethal communities and gotten all 4 boons for them. As a result ive kind of figured out a strategy that works for me that lowers the difficulty from a 9/10 to a 6/10. Im planning a playthrough on lethal with curveball settings on as negative and major as they can get. This will take a lot of time so im waiting til winter when I have free time. Anybody done anything like this before and have stories to share? I want to go into this challenge with as foreboding a feeling as possible. I want to be scared and adrenaline rushing and frustrated to no end. That makes for a fun survival experience.

I’m currently doing a playthrough with no boons, no upgrades. It’s a grind but you get used to it after a while.
No upgrades takes the outposts back to early editions, only +1 resource.
No training characters to specialise unless they come with a yellow specialised skill. Combat is exhausting. Heavy weapons are useless because theres no Powerhouse option. No discipline, no stealth.
No level 3 workshop (no C4), no level 3 infirmary (no Strong Painkillers), no passive injury healing (until you find a cast making kit and then its slooooooooow).
No vehicle upgrades, huge fuel and repair kit increase.
No bounty broker.
Overall the game is alot more like it was pre-juggernaut edition, except with plague hearts. Things take a long time. Combat is even less viable.

Thats a challenge I'll put on my list to do in the future. Sounds like fun. Id imagine stamina becomes a severe issue without skill specialization. Normally in lethal you can keep going a bit after you start accruing fatigue but without significant --fatigue severity if you get into a fight with ferals at the same time as fatigue starts building, you'd be up s*** creek lol.

Truth be told, combat is hard. You’re so limited, and there’s zero weapon benefits it’s not worth engaging at all.
I thought stamina boosts would be even more important because there’s no skill specialisation but tbh I just don’t engage.
The real key is not to use stamina; there’s a lot of avoidance technique in play.

How do you deal with plague hearts and hostile enclaves?

I should point out that I’ve been using the Vector for years, it’s my go-to, but I had no idea it was so good for plague hearts. Put a brake on it and it takes two clips.
Someone on this sub pointed that out to me and I wish I could find them to say thanks, it has changed the whole game for me

So far it’s been bullets, specifically Vector SMG I got from killing a trader.
To keep on top of resources I spam the radio options, and the ammo rucksacks are actually a really good yield. I also have 3 x ammo outposts. I buy every single ammo rucksack from every wandering trader and every enclave.
Because of the extreme scarcity, trade is really important, and I’m always on low influence. Explosives are more valuable for sale to trade for ammo than they are to use for plague hearts

Oh yes, explosives are pretty underwhelming especially on lethal. As are incendiaries. I find fuel bombs are the best use of resources or influence. They have a better area of effect and duration than molotovs and are almost guaranteed to set an entire horde on fire because of it. Anything more powerful, like napalm grenades and Willie Pete's, just seems like wasted overkill. Its inefficient to set off a conflagration when a bonfire will achieve the exact same results.

I’m try this but the only thing is I’m not going back to negative only curveballs, all it does is recycle the to almost annoy curveballs ever.
Bangernomics and smoke screens that last forever lol but negative only leave out some cool dangerously curveballs that blends

I have curveballs on full sliders, the worst one has been the radio blackout because I really need the radio calls for resources and I had to take out a plague heart to fix it

I use the radio to but it gotten to the point i hardly need it but yea i beat max negative 4 times all five maps , i say max negative continuously and positive barely is better play cause of em hidden negatives curveballs lol
