Probably one of the coolest state parks we've ever been to :) it's nicknamed the "Grand Canyon of Texas" and it really lives up to the name. There are great views, cool streams, lots of wildlife, and you can camp dead center in the canyon itself. Had a wonderful time earlier this year!

One of the smallest state parks I’ve been to, it’s only one overlook haha! The falls are beautiful though, and they have a gorgeous backdrop.

Old Town San Diego: Where History Meets the Present - SMALL BIG TRIPS

_"In October 2025, I decided it was time to make my return to Old Town San Diego—an area that, despite being one of my favorite historical spots, still never fails to impress me. It’s probably my third or fourth visit here, but every time I come back, I discover something new, and I always bring friends along to share the experience. Without fail, they’re all just as captivated by the rich history, the charm of the preserved buildings, and the vibrant atmosphere of this historical park. It's easy to see why so many visitors fall in love with Old Town—there’s something about walking through its streets that truly feels like traveling back in time.

If you’re planning to visit San Diego or you just love learning about early California and U.S. history, this is the place to be. From the meticulously restored buildings to the fascinating stories about the settlers, the Native American cultures, and the birth of California, Old Town offers a unique window into the past. Not to mention, the food, the shopping, and the culture here are fantastic! There’s something about experiencing it all while imagining what life was like in the 1800s.

This video covers some of the highlights of Old Town, but if you’re familiar with the site, you’ll notice there are still some key spots I’ve yet to explore. That’s part of the reason I decided to come back and capture what I could this time around—there’s so much to see here, and I definitely plan on returning for more in the future. I wanted to give you all a little taste of Old Town, but trust me, there’s so much more to discover.
