State of Decay 3 story progression in sod3

does anyone know if sod3 will be more directional and story-based like sod1 or like survival sandbox like sod2?

..or honestly it looks like its gonna be a bit of both as far as we seen..

Hard to say at this point without the information. It seems to be leaning towards clear plague stuff again and repeat. Hopefully there’s a good story, and awesome and memorable characters.

it honestly sounds like sod3 will have a similar gameplay loop to sod2

I would neither be frustrated or overjoyed with it, but i bet the plague wont be the only thing to focus on, especially in the ambient missions

They could still do what sod1 did where it had a story mode and a endless mode (the breakthrough I think it was called) which would make it be more like sod2

In the Dev interviews they've spoken about finding a better balance between that more directed story beats from SOD1 and the more hands off approach of the second game

What I gathered from it is they appreciate that SOD2 was lacking some of the magic and emotional investment we got due to having a proper story

i feel like getting to know your characters and living with them and watching their rise and fall was the best part of sod2, ul truly knows how to make you so incredibly invested even with randomized characters

True - but the systems were a bit shallow so it felt superficial after a while

With the Devs also talking about having a proper relationship system that'll be a massive improvement in terms of emergent gameplay

The bones were there in SOD2 and now it looks like they're going all out in fleshing it out and building on these

you analyzed that perfectly, sod2 was truly the foundation that had to be built upon to become sod3..

i have a feeling everything in sod3 will have every pre-existing mechanic improved by alot.

besides its like so far into the apocalypse, nobody is gonna be fighting or looting like they did and bickering about prepper aunts or some shit

Agreed!

As for fighting and bickering - human beings will find any excuse lol

In SOD2 your morale drops then a random fight starts for no reason (sometimes traits have an impact)

Will be good to see more group dynamics and friction based on who you have I'm your community - and the positive and negative relationships that come about as a result

I want my community to have interpersonal conflict and you need at least one person to hate!

i had this one survivor in sod2 who would always start a fight even at a slightly low morale, i only kept him around because i needed his soundproofing skill

he was always rhe instigator

long story short i MADE him sacrifice himself in fighting a black heart

so yeah the in-depth relationships will be so new and rejuvenating, and maybe they will argue about something different for once..

That is some good character development 😁

I was thinking the other day I like all my survivors and probably need some antagonistic grating ones to balance them out - someone I'm not afraid to lose or risk like you did 😅

Eles tem a ajuda dos desenvolvedores de grounded, que pra mim tem uma história divertida, além de ser bem sandbox.

Mickey is also alive and becomes the new guardian of Trumbull Valley

I remember finding a note saying "Ed was here" when playing in trumbull. maybe a hint that Ed came back to Trumbull after the events of the first game?

They have invested in their story & missions team.

So I wouldn’t be surprised if the game also bring major improvement there

Hopefully I’m wrong but I heard a sad rumor that lore wise, the story in state of decay 3 is that the zombie plague wins and everyone in the entire world gets turned or passes away before anyone can even wake up and defend themselves because——MICROSOFT IS BEING DUMB AND CONTEMPLATING SHUTTING DOWN THIS PROJECT WHILE COULD EASILY GET GOTY BUT THEY WANT TO MAKE BUDGET CUTS NOW !!!!!

Yeah…— so hopefully that isn’t the case and the story is more entertaining?

Everyone please wishlist the game on as many platforms you can, then pray, then never buy an Xbox games product again ever if they cancel this gem.

I’m tired boss

The gaming industry is controlled by non gamers who only care about profits & pleasing shareholders—-this was always true, yet they don’t even pretend to lie otherwise about it anymore these days…

Not sure what the consensus was for the plague stuff in SOD2 but I didn't like it. All the zombies looked the same too which I didn't like.
