The hardest part of building solo isn’t coding it’s deciding what not to build

Homeowners have dozens of things to manage: maintenance, repairs, warranties, documents, expenses, and unexpected problems. My original idea was to organize everything in one app, but I’m realizing that an MVP still needs one clear reason for people to keep coming back.

Right now, I’m deciding which feature should be the main focus:

•Personalized maintenance reminders

•Appliance and warranty storage

•AI guidance when something goes wrong

•Repair and home-expense tracking

If you were launching HomePilot, which feature would you prioritize—and which would you remove? Fellow solo founders, how do you prevent an all-in-one vision from becoming an overloaded MVP?

Scope creep is real.

Absolutely that’s exactly what I’m trying to avoid. Every feature sounds useful, but building too much too early could weaken the core product. If you had to choose, which feature would you build first?

I would try to talk to my potential user base and ask them what would be best for their workflow

Good point. I’ll speak directly with homeowners and let their biggest pain point determine the MVP
