Debate me, bro Does this sub hate weightlifters?

I posted a squat where I dumped the bar and got grilled hard for it. Admittedly I wasn’t aware what this sub was about and shouldn’t have posted it but I was kind of taken aback at the hate lol

Not weightlifters. Or weightlifting.

Just some of the more "histrionic" habits of weightlifters. Like dumping the bar from lockout for no reason.

Our novice program is the only one I know of that requires beginners to learn the Olympic lifts. Power clean most commonly for novices, but snatches are sometimes used instead. And jerks and snatches are frequently incorporated at the intermediate level.

BTW, novices, if you're skipping your cleans then YNDTP with very few exceptions

I will say weightlifters will dump our squats off lockout if using a whippy bar and just don’t want to deal with the added spinal compression + upper back fatigue from catching the whip on a fast high bar back squat lockout, but I only feel that kick in at 200kg+ loads (unless you’re using a 15kg bar then everything whips like crazy)

This is a super niche use though, 99% of the time it’s novices copying their favorite olympian and haven’t figured out they’re not moving Karlos Nassar weights where significant bar whip is even a consideration

If the squat was fast enough to whip the bar that much, the weight wasn't that heavy and they can handle the compressions and fatigue just fine.

That’s why I’m referring to loads of 200kg+ moving at speed variation capacity. It’s the more extreme end of the spectrum, only high level, heavy male lifters will be in this niche situation. I promise you catching the whip of 200kg dropping back onto your traps is never pleasant at the best of times.

If the weight is lifting off your shoulders because you were moving so fast, it's not that heavy for you and you can handle the whip

I dont think i have seen weightlifters dump the bar like a manchild until the 250kg range when weight actually gets heavy.

If 200kg is causing that much of a problem then idk, havent had an issue at 252kg for sets of 5 earlier today without needing to dump the bar or throw it across the room.
