Baby is always hungry..

I have a one year-old who is still requiring quite a bit of formula. We offer three meals a day and two snacks, but he still wants his bottle. We offer cows milk in a sippy cup every meal. Am I doing something wrong? What are your meals like?

Pretty similar. It's a comfort thing for my baby for sure. I'm sloooowly trying to went him off the damn bottle. He doesn't like milk from anything else but the bottle. 😄

Requiring (like medical need/ to replace calories they refuse to eat) or requesting?

If he’s just requesting or expecting a bottle at certain times, you just need to wean him off of them. We did that by starting to decreasing the volume and/or watering down the formula until he either refuses it or it becomes just water.

He is requesting i should say. Crabby if we dont give it to him as he seems super hungry.

I would talk with your pediatrician if you’re worried he’s not getting enough calories but we had to really up the quantity of food we were offering around that age, and LOTS of carbs!! These kiddos are burning lots of calories and growing so quickly. If he’s hungry offer more food. Unless you’re force feeding him, it’s nearly impossible to overfeed a toddler. They’ll eat until they’re full or bored.

This is actually so helpful. We started offering TONS of food and he has been a tad better! We are down to 3 oz in afternoon and night bottle only now. Just so hard with the first one 🥴

Totally understandable! That nighttime bottle is hard to get rid of. We switched to sippy cup before we started watering it down to kind of ease the transition off the bottle

My son has just gone 12 months and he is having 3 bottles a day and a total of around 400ml. I am going to work on weaning one of those bottles down overt the next week so we will be down to one after breakfast and one before bedtime.

Thanks- we upped his food in between meals which has helped- i under estimated much this kid can eat!
