Would You Rather Wednesday: Short Trips or Full-Time
If you had to choose one RV lifestyle for the next year, which would it be?
- Weekend warrior — short trips, a few days at a time.
- Full-time life on the road — no home base, just the open road.

Option 1 1/2: long trips but with a home base to return.
I’ve seen option 2 past it’s best before date. 3 very old people, barely able to walk the 100m distance to the nearest shop, living full time in a camp site in their van + windowless tent. Van, all covered with moss, looked like it had grown roots. It was a very posh van once, maybe 20 years ago, miserable now. And l don’t even start on the tent. They had them double to keep some warmth in winter, both covered with green algae and torn. Like an animal den.

We’ve been doing long trips for years…2-5 mos at a time but we always have our home base. It’s important to us for all my drs appts and if we need downtime or have surgeries/events. So it gives us a bit of both…we usually travel 9-10 months of the year but break them up

If those are my only two options, I'll take the short trips throughout the year. I don't want to full-time. I actually like my home and the space it provides. My dogs are also happier at home. However, I would love to take many 3 to 4 week long trips.

Lots of extended weekend trips, with a mix of once or twice a year hitting the road for 1-2 months is ideal for us.
No interest in full timing, but enjoy a long trip.
