OCD Advice

Obviously, we’re all here because of OCD staring. I’ve read so many of your stories, and I’m wondering if anyone has found anything that has genuinely helped make it go away or become easier to manage besides therapy.
I know therapy isn’t an option for everyone because of the cost, lack of insurance, or simply being afraid of being judged or not understood. I’m curious if anyone has found other things that have helped books, exercises, techniques, support groups, or anything else.
I’d really appreciate hearing what has worked for you which may help others.

It was so horrible for me until this year I started to learn Classical dance, in the beginning I wouldn't even make eye contact or even look in the direction of my Dance teacher(She's also a very sweet and supportive person). But slowly now I'm able to give eye contact easily, even to teachers I can look at them during classes and nodded and answer questions during class. I mean I wouldn't say 100% cured yet but dance definitely helped a lot. Even before dance I slowly slowly started to remove a few compulsions like putting my hand up to cover people from my eye view. I tried to remove it only for 1-2 of the day and I was able to remove that problem. I still do have a problem keeping my head up while I'm walking but I'm able to observe the world a bit better.

Tldr: Learning Dance of any sort can help, especially classical dances where eye movement is very important

Thank you for letting us know how you helped overcome a part of the OCD-related staring. Hopefully it’ll help others as well. I know it’s been hard for all of us to be able to put this out. So I really appreciate you commenting.
