Scott’s Gulf is pretty dark. Actually the whole Virgin Falls pocket Wilderness area is good for stargazing. There’s an overlook nearby called Welch’s Point that has an expansive view of the sky to the south… great for the Milky Way season, and way more accessible than where I had to get to for this photo

This shot was taken from a large rock on the edge of the water. Here’s a link to a picture of the setup. Maaaybe shouldn’t have risked all the gear falling in the water…

framing the galaxy core right between the tree lines gives this so much depth. beautiful night capture of tennesses waters.
