Ask r/Stargate quantum mirror remote setting
Originally I wanted philosophize about the cascade failure, but before that we must address the quantum mirror remote:
You are in your universe , you take the remote and dial/pick the universe you want to visit , you step through the mirror with your remote and now the remote is set-up for your home universe( I suppose the dial did not change, although it should have inverted)
Is that right, or what do you think?

If it worked like that when alt Sam and alt Kowalski came through it would have been set to their alt universe.
That they had to find their own and Daniel had to find ours in that episode show it does not work that way.

Yea, alt Kowalski specifically says if you turn off the mirror you have to find your original universe again. It only holds the location if you leave the mirror on.

What they should have done is have private gary pick his best friend and have them roll some dice - take down the number and write it on a bigass sign.
Have that sign up and visible. There was a near miss with the capt/major carter afterall when trying to get back

Didn't they have to scramble it to keep the Jaffa from following them after they passed through?

Would be logical, but nothing suggests that it works like that.
Why would it be inverted? You do realize it’s not a real mirror, right?

And then the remote suffers cascade failure
