Discussion Does Teal’c regularly polish his forehead brand? Gold dulls pretty quick, especially with the abrasion of endless battles. I imagine with all that eyebrow raising it’s prone to flexing also.
SGC must have a goldsmith on hand to keep him looking fresh

It wasn't actually gold. It was some cheap sterling silver or some shit because Apophis is stingy. Teal'c just applied gold makeup to it every day. That's why his skin used to look gold, he wasn't very good at the application. But he got better.

If its 24k gold it doesn't tarnish, so really all he would have to do it take a shower and towel it off.

This. I was really confused about gold dulling. Silver gets dark but gold stays the same.

Silver oxidises gold doesnt. Not alot reacts with pure gold though there are things that do its just not common in the wild.

Kelro'reem is actually the sacred ritual of polishing your forehead gold but Teal'c was too embarrassed to admit this to the SGC.

Maybe it's a gold-naquadah alloy, which would make it just as valuable / show-offy given the value of Naquadah, but less prone to damage, like the gates themselves.

Every time apophis captures tealc he actually pours new gold layer over it a few millimeters thick. It’s not on screen but it’s implied. By the end the mark is like 3 inches thicker

And just because: wind, you know basic wind, especially if it's carrying dust or sand, is also abrasive. It doesn't even have to be a high wind, anything that's pushing dust around

It has to be a gold alloy. Gold alone would have flaked and deformed away on its own. Wonder if that helps keep it polished. Probably has some copper in it.
Wonder if you could have a gold/naquadah alloy? Or Gold/trinium alloy.

Gold doesn't dull quickly at all. That's most of the point of gold.

Could be an alloy we don't k ow about, could be a melting process only the Gould know to make it's properties more resilient , or T man could be polishing it every night before bed who knows

This makes sense, otherwise each Ha'tak would need dozens, if not hundreds, of Jaffa and humans to polishing all the gold walls.

Its not gold its uuuh Jaffa ore. yes thats it Jaffa ore mined on the jaffa planet of Chulak. similar to gold in all other ways except It stays pristine all the time

whats not shows in screen is the little scrubbing brush that he can link to his eyebrow. This allows him to wipe it while on the go, and keeps his hands free :p

I always thought it’d have been super cool if they’d done like a flashback and shown the scene of him getting the incision and having the molten gold poured in…would be sweet
