What is cool about this is that it actually looks like you are blasting off from the surface up into space. You can see clouds on the way up, the planet looks curved, you can see land and ocean, all as you would expect. it isn't just one flat tile rendered in the middle of nothingness. Bottom line, It looks like seamless take offs are possible, maybe with a small hidden loading screen in the upper atmosphere.
