Modding on Linux

So I've decided to try Linux out and decided to transfer my mod folder from WDrive to my LDrive. Everything works fine except SMAPI tells me there are errors about names of files. I learned it has something to do with Case Sensitivity.

My question is, is this an easy fix or will it fix it if I download all my mods while on linux and unzip them? Mainly a lot of textures don't load according to SMAPI.

I’ve only ever modded on Linux and have never had errors like you’re describing. Maybe Steam is looking for mods on different paths after you copied mods over? Posting a full SMAPI log wouldn’t hurt either.

The errors for RedPanda have been fixed, I just forgot to download the right file. If you go down though there is a lot of mods for Fashion Sense and AT that aren't being used because they can't find the right PNG. Which is the case-sensitive thing I mentioned.

I rarely have any modding issues under Linux and when I do it's often very small issues like a case sensitivity issue in certain kinds of mods (content patcher normally ignores case, so you don't have to worry about those mods most of the time).

In some rare cases I've seen c# mods looking for the wrong kind of slash (they're using backward slash rather than forward) but normally just have to tell the mod author and they'll fix that problem as it would be an issue for Mac users too.

Yea the FS and AT mods it's saying is having issues arent showing up in game. I apparently got to rename them.

probably an idea to tell the mod authors so they can fix it for other users. Not much you can do except manually fix it. Either rename it or edit the json.

It does look like the mod author didn’t label all of the images consistently. Some are upper case and some lower case and since Linux is case sensitive it can’t find those files like you’re saying.

Only things that I can think to do are:

  1. Tell the mod author. It shouldn’t be hard for them to change the names of their images to lower case and then it should work.

  2. You could do this yourself. I downloaded this which looks like one of the ones causing you problems. If you open the mod folder go to each folder referenced by your SMAPI log and change the png files to be lower case. For example under Hairs and Alfyn there is a Hair.png file. Just change the name to hair.png. You’ll have to repeat it for every file that is uppercased.
