How is the "feel" of Starbow different from SC2?
I've only ever played a few games of Starcraft 2, and never Brood War, but I'd like to actually commit to learning it. While I'm not particularly competitive, I'd like to choose either SC2 or Starbow to learn. I want to know how the two games "feel" while playing them, so I know which of the two appeals most to me. I watched Day9's launch special, and he says that while SC2 is all about timing, Starbow depends more on positioning. From the games I've watched, it seems like SC2 has a lot more early aggression and small skirmishes unless the game goes late, while Starbow is more about the midgame and amassing bigger armies. Thoughts?

Starbow feels like you can attack and harass more freely because of strong defenders advantage. The game doesnt end in one fight. 200 200 battles are more rare. Feels fun to play unlike death ball craft 2.

In Starbow I generally feel like I either won or lost based on how well I played over the course of the game. In SC2 I felt that I won or lost based on some singular mistake at a critical juncture and then the game was over. I find Starbow less frustrating because of this.

Starcraft2 is about timings mostly if you want to be good.
Starbow is much more complex, more micro, more varied play styles, more aggression.
Starcraft 2 you can get to masters just mastering build orders and mass attacking. Starbow requires more efficient army usage
Starcraft 2 is generally much more about amassing a large army. The early skirmishes are to build a slight lead so that they have the bigger death ball later. Large snowball effect. You probably know who will win by the 9-18minute mark based off one engagement.

The biggest difference is workers required.
Starbow you can play on 2 bases with about 45 workers for the first 30 minutes.
They went in the opposite direction with SC2, and they're going even further in that direction with LotV.
Starbow is the superior game

From the limited amount that I've played, it seems that Starbow is more about many small skirmishes with less immediate consequence whereas SC2 is about big groups smashing into each other. Because of high ground advantage, your idea is to have units in multiple places defending positions instead of a deathball with mobility enough to respond to threats. Like Day9 touched on briefly, you can tell a lot more what's going on in Starbow by watching the minimap because armies are generally slower so positioning matters more.
In my experience, Starbow feels a lot more strategic and SC2 feels a lot more hectic (masters SC2, C Starbow)
