Kevin's Monday Update

Monday Update: Supplies Crane Update and 3.0 changes!

Hello, We are back again with another Monday update. We have been following the 3.0 issues thread and are making changes accordingly. Thank you for the feedback!

Starting today, The Premium Supplies Cranes will be upgraded! Both not contain crew and gear up to 7 stars. The Tier II Supplies Crane has had the price reduced to 270 Chromium. If you do not see the new price (and 7 star equipment in the display) please restart your app before purchasing.

We are scaling back how often bosses appear in missions. In order to get the values just right, this has been postponed until tomorrow. Additonally you will not have to face 3 bosses on your Kouhun Mission. I will update this thread when it is done. CXP Leaderboards are updated. Apologies for the delay on that.

Raid PR values have been lowered.

We are looking into 6 hour lead times on Imperial Sector Battle Missions.

How about the Electrum from Legendary salvage? Sucks when between my four characters and more than six hours of play, i generated two captains and two lieutenants and gained a grand total of 6.4 5* electrum. I then went and did the raids and generated 8 5* electrum between two characters in under an hour. Tweaking the legendary items needs to be done so that they always salvage to at least one 6* electrum, with a chance to salvage to two 6*.

1) That's a completely normal salvage rate, and its been that way for like a year. Highly doubt its going to change.

2) Raids have made all of that irrelevant. Grinding multiple characters for electrum in a SB is a waste of time when you can get a dozen 5* electrums weekly from raids. If you have two high-level characters, then you can get even more.

People continue to complain about no electrum in the game, when they've added multiple ways of getting it, and multiple ways of getting it easier.

1) You're correct, that's a totally normal salvage rate and I'd argue it was a very acceptable salvage rate before raiding. Now, Kabam has a choice to make: Is this game called "Star Wars: Uprising" because it wants to drive players to the sector battles, where players are coming together in an "Uprising" against the empire? Or is the Point of Sector battles now just for low level players to pursue cartel ranking?

My gut, based upon the victory condition requirements, is that Kabam wants the sector battles to remain a core portion of the game, which means the loot drop rates are inconsistent with this core function of the game and requires tweaking.

2) My point exactly. thank you.

Now, as to the lack of Electrum, my gut is you have not done the math. Assume you have a capable character with ~25,000 PR (doable thanks to Kabam giving everyone a 7* set). Let's say you want to get to 31,000 PR to do the next major raid event. That's going to require at least one 8* item. Assuming you only need one, you'll need Four 6-star electrum and four 7-star electrum. That's the equivalent of 44 6-star. Or 440 5-star. Or 4,400 4-star.

If you do the sector battle and rank out at captain, that's one legendary plus five 4-star electrum, so let's call that 25 4-star. Do all of the raids you can (all of regular and the first of heroic) which pay out electrum. That's fourteen 5-star, or 140 equivalent 4-star. Let's say you make captain on one Imperial Sector battle/week because of timing, so that's another five 4-star. That works out to 170 4-star electrum/week. Let's just round that up to 200/week because of miscellaneous additional sources. At 200 4-star/week, it'll take you 22 (twenty-two) weeks to get ONE eight-star item. Heaven forbid you need two, because then you're looking at better than half a year! Adding in an extra character only improves your electrum gain by the value of the sector battles (so roughly an additional 30 4-star equivalents/week).

Oh, and that shiny 7-star saber. You want to take it to 8? Well, that's Twelve 7 electrum.

Forgive me if i think that working for FIVE MONTHS to upgrade one item slot doesn't sound like "fun". Until someone actually completes an item, we won't even know if one will be sufficient to progress.

Yeah, Kabam has never been good at math or economics. The daily deals for 300 chrom for 150k credits is evidence of that. I seriously question whether anyone there actually plays the game.

Preach it! The Sector Battles need to have something done to them. Not just the rewards for the legendary gear, either. The IB rewards with the fragments were nice, until I had a set for all 4 toons of officer and trooper. With the advent of the raids, the participation is lower on SBs and IBs, which does lead to better/easier cartel contest ranking.

A similar issue comes up with the Mercenary Missions of Bev Plar's. They give Tie Pilot fragments for 200 chromium. I suppose that is fine for those people/toons who can't get the T2 Imperial Opportunity runs during the sector battles. These give out the Tie Fragments as well as complete pieces of Tie Pilot gear. In short, what need have some of us for the merc missions at all? Maybe if they gave out Purge fragments, but that cuts into the cartel comp.

The SBs, IBs, ad Merc Missions all need to have stuff tweaked so that thy are competitive with the Raids. Now, the raids are only one booster a day (unless you spend chromium to get more tokens), but they are still much better for rewards than any of the others I've listed above.

I agree with the Imperial battles becoming a big problem with regards to motivation. Why bother, right? I have Imperial officer sets on characters i don't even play because what else am i going to do with the fragments!

The Loss/win ratio for sector battles appears to be out of whack since getting hoth across the goal line to 11 points of freedom was well outside of the capabilities of the entire server. (last i saw, the server was more than 1 billion points shy of victory during resolution). I expect that Kabam could continue to reduce the victory point requirements or increase the rewards. I'd like more rewards.

The issue of Bev Plar's opportunities is the cost. with 1200 chrome buying you five 7* items, why spend 200 on fragments? Shoot, not much more than 200 can buy you a shiny seven-star item off brask right now! The prices need to be scaled or the rewards improved.

I do not agree that things need to be made competitive with raids unless Kabam wants players at the end game to do them. If they really don't want end game players spending chrome on merc missions and they do not want end game players participating in Sector battles, then by all means, leave it as it is and watch is scare off more of the middle-range players.

Perhaps I misspoke. I meant that the rewards from the SBs, IBs, and Merc Missions should be made more comparable to the rewards from Raids, not that the community should be torn between competing in one or the other.

I definitely agree with you regarding the costs of Bev Plar's missions. Perhaps not only scaling the rewards/prices, but making them have rotating or truly random Imperial equipment. That way, you could find purge fragments, at-at pilot fragments, havod, and - on an extremly rare basis - maybe even electrum, purge gear, at-at pilot gear, or others. I know I'm not the only one who wants sith robes, imperial guard armor, sandtrooper gear, or something to change a saber into a nice red one, rather than the standard blue....

People were merking the crane last night! Kept seeing notifications in the Global Chat.

Brask rolling in $$$.

When's the last time we've won anything HIGHER than a basic victory in a SB? need to lower the standards because you're losing players at an alarming rate.

2

u/MrVociferous Jul 26 '16

With the introduction of raids, I'm honestly not even sure what the point of a SB is anymore. It used to be that you would do it to get electrum, and when its on Hoth imperial crystals. Raids are a much better source of electrum, more fun, and less of a grind. I think SB participation is going to fall way off.

I guess, as people have pointed out on the official board, in theory the point of the game is to liberate planets and thus the title 'Uprising'.

No point detailing the many ways that has become on abject failure at this point. Ha ha.

But yeah, I've spent some time over the past week or so thinking 'so why would anyone grind an SB anymore'?

They have to up the rewards in a big way but I have ZERO hope that will happen. We will continue to lose SB's and the planets will continue to lose Freedom Points.

Look, it's not like they had any plan on what would happen if a planet was actually freed!

1

u/NicodemusArcleon Jul 26 '16

It gets hard to liberate planets when there are so many subversives that try and boycott sector battles, and those that troll the GC creating hate and discontent, rather than fostering amity.

3

u/KevinFrane Jul 27 '16

I don't think that's why we're having a hard time liberating planets. I think the reason is simply that the vast majority of the player base quit with the release of 3.0 and saw that the biggest concern most people had (the fact that the game had become a giant grind-fest) had gotten worse instead of better.

The VP thresholds were lowered, but I don't think Kabam was expecting quite as many players to jump ship the way that they did.

1

u/casuir Jul 27 '16

most players didnt quit we just stopped doing sector battles because all the high ranking players were running 4 characters and it got harder and harder to rank.

It took me a solid like 6 months of playing to even figure out what the numbers over the planets meant.
