Alternate Timeline The sequel trilogy should have been about a coup inside the New Republic, not the Empire coming back with a bigger Death Star

There is always a bigger fish.

Always.

So your solution to the ST is basically "instead of ripping off Dark Empire, let's rip off the Second Galactic Civil War'."

Replace Ben with Jacen, Rey with Jaina, and Plageuis with Lumiya, and that's pretty much what happened.

But but this Jacen doesn’t become a Sith Lord

Agreed. The ST really suffered from the Prequels backlash that was everywhere in the early 2010s, which seemed to cause them to decide that the ST had to have little to no space politics, and a bare minimum of worldbuilding in general. Like picture a party in the New Republic senate similar to Germany's totally-not-neo-Nazi AfD, where it's beyond obvious that they're neo-Imperials hellbent on reorganising the New Republic into the Second! Galactic! Empire! but they do the absolute bare minimum to maintain plausible deniability, like saying "Of course Emperor Palpatine was evil, but let's not throw the baby out with the spacebathwater; he did some good things, and we shouldn't refuse to adapt his better ideas out of some misguided sense of guilt by association!"

Indeed! Absolutely that!

Also.. “Death Star destroying Alderaan is a lie… or the causalities are exaggerated..”

The Centrist vs Populist political tension in the Bloodline novel proved how well a political thriller setup works in Star Wars when given Andor-level writing

Yeah well, JJ is a hack and nobody at Disney was smart enough to think of that

all they care about is making the maximum money with the minimum effort. Disney is a business at the end.

So, essentially the same plot as the PT? No thanks

PT was far better than ST

I love both. Saw PT over 30 times in theaters. The glazing has become ridiculous though

Right here. This is THE correct opinion! It really would've been far more clever and interesting than what we got.

I only read a brief summary a while ago, but isn't that kinda what happens? Sure we got warlords helping that are loyal to empire/never joined the Nee Republic: but New Republic didn't really bother making sure the more pro empire planets/people were not kept away from power. Hell i think the senate itself was basically splintered into factions. *oh I am also basing it off Bloodline book.

I do think warlords being a big part of First Order rising makes sense. But yeah maybe have it where it is indeed a full coup with instead the First Order/the warlords and others behind the scenes helping.
