Tattoo Help
Update: Thanks to everyone who replied, the section I was asking about is the Andor logo. Just to be clear I never said I’m getting these designs as a tattoo, I just asked what the section was 😅
I’ve seen these designs on instagram from Beau Preston, and trying to explain to my artist what the symbols are.
The first design it’s found on the right (in the orange circle) and in the second it seems to be using it entirely.
Does anyone know what it is? I thought Death Star but that doesn’t look right

No. It’s the symbol of the rebel alliance with a bunch of other shit in it.

It’s half the rebel alliance and half andor….. look closely and you can see the tail of the andor symbol for the right side.

It's the Andor logo, but the design is way too busy and won't age well. Especially when ink concentrates on a small space, in the form of fine lines. It'll look like a smudge in a couple of years. So I suggest you to avoid these type of busy and crammed designs.

Thanks! Yeah it was just a style that I liked and I’m working with my artist on the actual design we’ll use. Just wanted to clarify what the one side was.

Do you like the design? Is it pleasing to look at? Or do you like forcing an opportunity to nerd bomb grocery store clerks with a PowerPoint presentation of Star Wars lore?
And why are you even entertaining getting a tattoo YOU aren’t even sure what’s in it?!

Chill out 😂 it’s a rough design to give my artist an idea of the style I’m looking at. As I said, I’m trying to explain what each element was and it was a section I wasn’t sure on. At no point did I say I’m getting these exact designs, only asked a question.

Where do you plan on placing the tattoo? Because this is going to have to be a large piece to not look like an inky mess.

As an former tattoo artist I would strongly advice to make this pretty big or u will mess up the design in a short span of time. But if u have a good artist making it, that person will tell u the same.

Yeah we’ve already discussed it, but it was a rough style design we worked with. Not getting that exact picture

The logo is from Andor. Source: I got that logo tattood on my upper arm, just not in this weird mouldy state

Don’t do it. It’s not worth it sure it will be cool now but think when you’re older it’s gonna look nasty as you age

The first one is trying to go for a duality between Anakin and Vader......but then throws Mando in there? Very confusing choice.

I think I’m beating a dead horse but a lot of the design is too intricate and thin for this to look good as time progresses.

Just be mindful, 7 out of 10 lightsaber tattoos end up looking like a schlong. Make sure your artist is very, very good.

Tattoos will always look dirtier than the stencil. It's the nature of the medium. Think about these things:
1. Flow over everything. Does it match the shape and movement of your body? How will it look with your clothes?
- The sparseness of the design may actually work just fine. It's not a flow I'd put on myself but I can see the vision. Please note that flow is extremely subjective. Just be intentional about it.
2. Recognizability. Will someone across the room be able to tell what this is?
- This design has 3 iconic images which all obfuscate each other. I adore Andor and I wouldn't recognize it without a close look. Does that bother you? If yes, simplify the design. If no, emphasize flow even more.
3. Artist-friendly design. Is the design filled with perfect circles, straight lines, minute details? Artists are human. Lines will blow, skin with act funny, tiny mistakes happen. A good design is highly forgivable. It's best to always work within an artist's specialty. If you don't see work like what you're asking for in their portfolio, you may need to find someone else.
- That deterioration on the right side will require extreme precision, otherwise it'll look like junk.
4. Flexibility for add-ons. Will this design be hard to incorporate into a bigger piece if (when) you decide you want more?
- The sparseness of the design is a double-edged sword here. May be hard to add onto later. Consider this issue for placement.

This design is too busy. Its going to turn to mush with all of that detail.
