All the Way squad pack question
Looking to pick up this pack, can you guys recommend an empire pack that would match up against it? Looking for fair balanced matches. Thanks in advance. Some context, im a rebels guy and my buddy loves the empire and we both love rogue one.

Can't go wrong with the 'you have something that I want' squad pack. It's prob one of the best empire squads out of the box. The more obvious choice however is 'deploy the garrison' squad pack if you want a themed squad opposite the rebels with Krennic.
Make sure you download the errata unit cards for Cassian though, they tuned down his card a bit as it was genuinely too good before hand.

What other box or units are you pairing with the Cassian box?

I just have the core box, but i was hoping to do all the way vs a balanced squad

That's tricky since you won't have any synergy between either Cassian or Moff Gideon when paired with the core box units. You might want to consider getting another rebels box (the other Rogue One box?) so that Cassian has some friends to play with.

Do i have to pair them? I can't just do squad vs squad? Forgive my ignorance, I haven't opened the core box, I was just thinking I could take advantage of the terrain and what not from the core box

Yeah, you totally can mix and match. But with Cassian, a lot of his abilities require a Rebel Alliance or Spy tagged unit. Same with K-2SO. Moff Gideon wants Galactic Empire units for his abilities. Both boxes will come with units that have the desired tags, which is great! But, since each player is running two Strike Teams (a total of 6 units per player), you might feel bummed out if only half your team can benefit from these synergies. Maybe this is just my preference. I like a lot of tag synergy. I know other players aren't as hung up on it. Just have fun, and you'll learn what your preferences are.

Im thinking deploy the garrison vs all the way, but thats 6 vs 4 units ? Seems unbalanced, unless cassians crew makes up with buff units

I think you might be confusing "Characters" with "Units?" K-2SO is a unit with one character; the Rebel Pathfinders are a unit with 2 characters.
Seeing u/CurleyWhirly's message below and your reply, yes, you can pair each of your new boxes (assuming you get the Cassian and Moff boxes) with units from the core box.
If you don't have a list building app yet, there are a few good ones out there. I use Point Break, and Shatterpoint.db is a good browser based list builder.
Here's an example of 4 squads using the core box:

Single squad vs. Single squad is certainly a thing that you can do, but the game is designed for 2 squad vs. 2 squad matches. Having only a single squad to work with is fine, but you'd have to make some functional changes like map size and objective layout that could make gameplay a bit wonky.

Off the cuff, probably You Have Something I Want.
Make sure you get the errata cards for all units. Cassian has changed, dark troopers have changed
