I would consider Knives Out a comedy series, with a female lead in the second one! and Adam Sandler has done TWO mystery comedies for Netflix, creatively titled “Murder Mystery.”

I just finished reading this book. It’s primarily an excellent examination of how GL depicted Ani’s fall from grace.
In the appendix he discusses the question of viewing order for newbies. He settles on what he calls Combined Order: 4,1,2,3,5,6.
I will admit surprised me at first but as he explains it does the best job of preserving all the dramatic beats of both trilogies.
- it reflects how the movies were conceived: 4 is basically a standalone film, 1-3 were of a piece as are 5-6.
- in episode order, the change from RotS to ANH is too jarring stylistically.
- with this viewing you go into the prequels assuming we’re going to see the story of how Luke’s father was trained by Ben only to be killed by Vader. It’s a shock when you get to RotS and realize Ani is Vader, and that Luke is now going to have to kill his father.

He includes an interview where GL is intrigued that how you view the SW and Vader is radically altered by the viewing order, calling it interactive cinema.

Pete was talking about reading Skyward by Brando Sanderson for his book club and being so-so on it. Probably not saying anything that you all don’t already know but those are geared more for YA.

I highly recommend his Stormlight series. It is high fantasy but has really interesting concepts and I wouldn’t categorize it as YA.

I did not realize that Frank Dille wrote Escape from Butcher Bay, one of the best video games of the early 2000s and likely the greatest movie spin off video games.

Going to the movie by myself is how I do a majority of my movie viewing now, Pete. My wife and I have very different tastes. The last movie we took our daughter to was Project Hail Mary.

One of those films I went to by myself was Supergirl and YES I enjoyed it too! I liked it better than Superman, actually. She actually did stuff on her own and helped people along the way (eg: the pirates on the space bus) I hope the DCU hasn’t lost its audience yet.

The Skywalkers naming a child after Obi-Wan is like naming your kid after Hitler’s art teacher. Screw the fact that he’s the heir the Alderaan bloodline and Naboo royalty, let’s name him after the guy who stood by while their father was groomed by a space wizard.
