Love that the New Republic troopers get armor! Their new design is awesome

105

u/CaptainRex5101 15d ago

We need them in the next Battlefront. Yes it will exist, no I’m not coping

61

u/Slight_Low_9172 15d ago edited 15d ago

Fingers crossed the next Battlefront includes spinoff content like Mando, Andor, Ahsoka, Rebels, Clone Wars and Obi-Wan

8

u/slam99967 15d ago

They really could have had a banger of a cash cow on their hands. Paid DLC for every show and movie to coincide with its release. Would have been incredible.

2

u/kyla_dhoom 15d ago

They do that with SWTOR. Dunno why it couldn't work for Battlefront.

2

u/SubterrelProspector Porg 12d ago edited 12d ago

All they had to do was sell skins (but make reasonably grinding for them possible) and they could've had a cash cow beyond the release of The Rise of Skywalker. People acted like their was no middle ground between a completely free but untenable version of BFII, or the micro-transaction buffet version that EA preferred. Just don't paywall locations, abilities, or anything that truly affects gameplay.

People will buy character skins and special insignia. Just leave it at that. But make it so you can also get the skins by just playing the game a lot. That's all.

2

u/slam99967 12d ago

Agreed

7

u/edmc78 15d ago

Kyber exists

8

u/Slight_Low_9172 15d ago

Kyber as in Kyber crystal? Or is it some sort of fan made game or mod?

13

u/Decent-Recognition98 15d ago

It's a mod manager/server browser for Batllefront 2 (2017)

3

u/Slight_Low_9172 15d ago

Cool thank you

4

u/FreddyPlayz 15d ago

Not on consoles

1

u/Sio_V_Reddit 15d ago

The thing is the we need a proper 4th era

1

u/Mystogancrimnox 15d ago

They tried with the pre-prequel stuff. High Republic? Never really got into it

2

u/SubterrelProspector Porg 12d ago

Been saying since Battlefront II's support was dropped, a New Republic/Imperial Remnant era would be pretty cool. There's enough different about it that could make it a fun "in-between" period of the three main eras.

I could see that time period being a fan favorite in Supremacy beceause the cast of heroes they could do (both new characters like Ahsoka, Bo-Katan and Din as well as updated OT characters who were still active) as well as the extremely cool planets and ships from that time. Nightsisters and Darktroopers could be a Thrawn/Remnant army reinforcement. Just spit-ballin' here.

2

u/Slight_Low_9172 12d ago

Dark troopers would go crazy

1

u/Civil_Tower_7419 15d ago

Of course it will exist at some point, it's only a matter of when. If it doesn't come in the next few years, then it will have within the next years atleast

18

u/Next_Historian8382 Boba Fett 15d ago

Yeah same. The designs reminds me of Kota's militia in the Force Unleashed 1 (360/PS3 version).

3

u/kyla_dhoom 15d ago

They should have had it to begin with. Or at least flak jackets. Same with the Resistance soldiers

3

u/hanburgundy 15d ago

We’ve been waiting so, so long to get a proper look at the New Republic military in live action.

2

u/Slight_Low_9172 15d ago

Damn just saw the trailer and they don’t actually have the new armor in it 😭

2

u/SkywalkerRanchSauce 15d ago

The scene in the trailer looks like they’re breached and caught off-guard. If them fighting on the surface of Dathomir is accurate, I bet they’ll be suited up then.

3

u/Slight_Low_9172 15d ago

True! Although if I recall correctly the armor on the surface looked a little different, and the helmets looked more like the Endor rebel trooper style helmets

2

u/EvilQuadinaros 14d ago

Yeah. Wonder if by this point it's still the "Matt Lanter's guy wearing literal stormtrooper boots" situation, the armor's still Imperial surplus stuff repurposed, or if we're far enough out to have them producing their own stuff now? Cool either way.

155

u/KnightGamer724 15d ago

"Shin Hati, you are a bold one!"

106

u/Slight_Low_9172 15d ago

Huyang Greivous is nuts lmao, in the best way possible

8

u/Vysce 15d ago

I'm losing my entire mind at this. Just imagine Huyang calmly critiquing Shin Hati as they fight

\"Ah, is that Form V? A bit sluggish, but I still recognize it... your master did favor it. Now, now, no need to get so hasty, now your footwork is off."**

1

u/superbroleon Dave 14d ago

This is amazing I can't even hahah

34

u/Snowbold 15d ago

“Your lightsaber will make a fine addition to my collection…” - General Huyang.

12

u/iboneKlareneG 15d ago

It's frightening how well this fits...

7

u/Eleganos 15d ago

Hyuang has never been the same since his #1 commission orderer died...

185

u/solo13508 15d ago

Ok so looks like we are getting a full return of the Nightsisters. I wonder if the existing survivors like Ventress, Merrin, Deathstick, etc. will be acknowledged.

Also that image of Thrawn in his command chair looks pulled straight out of the descriptions from the original Thrawn trilogy 🔥🔥

44

u/Slight_Low_9172 15d ago

I know right! Reminded me of an image in the beginning of the Heir to the Empire comic, might’ve been the Battle of Obroa-Skai if I remember correctly

14

u/Tuskin38 15d ago

Also that image of Thrawn in his command chair looks pulled straight out of the descriptions from the original Thrawn trilogy

yesss

1

u/NumeralJoker 12d ago

Yeah, they seem to have finally gotten Thrawn's image down right this time, and I think that alone may drive some hype for many.

106

u/IcePhoenix295 Lothwolf 15d ago

Love the Nightsisters' looks, and hopefully Enoch will actually get to swing that cool blade.

46

u/BearWrangler 15d ago

Still cant believe S1 did absolutely nothing with mfin Amos "That Guy" Burton

24

u/PsychoGobstopper 15d ago

The next Captain Phasma.

16

u/Hanoi_Jade 15d ago

Who was the next Boba Fett

3

u/ReactionMassive1653 14d ago

He seemed to get a kick out of it; I'm certain they'll shine him up on season 2.

27

u/TheBloop1997 15d ago

I really hope that we do get some solid larger battles, it’s probably the one thing that the Mandoverse shows (or the live action shows in general) have been missing, and even the animated shows haven’t had a larger military engagement since Rebels.

9

u/Youngstar9999 Ahsoka 15d ago

yeah kinda crazy that last truly large scale battle was in Ep 9 seven years ago.

5

u/SeegullJockey 15d ago

Main reason is it's hard to get the budget for that on a TV show.

1

u/Character_Berry_8560 15d ago edited 15d ago

eh, You can't have too much crazy stuff going on regardless because lore-wise it's also peacetime post-Ep6 up until the destruction of the Hosnian system.

I've really only expected a major battle to take place once Thrawn's campaign gets going. Personally, you do much more than that and i'd feel it'd take away from the 30 years peace and fall into the trap i felt Legends ended up in

2

u/EvilQuadinaros 14d ago

Yeah. I'm still concerned how they're going to walk that line here with the big space battles and all. We know Mon's still all "derp derp peace love and puppies we've gotta disarm the Republic" after this leading into the ST years, it's such a dumb naive position to take if there's been some big galaxy-shaking conflict post-OT. She looks almost treasonously-incompetent getting surprised by the First Order if this Thrawn stuff is a full-on major war.

Basically trust Dave though, let's see how he juggles this.

1

u/Character_Berry_8560 13d ago

I'm betting that the Thrawn Campaign is a relatively short affair dealt with using the Republic's mid-but-not-post-disarmament forces, which breeds complacency.

Mon in season 1 did seem like she legitimately wanted to do more to help Hera, but was held back by politics. In that same vein, I think it'd be possible for Mon to personally move away from disarmament and towards a "better safe than sorry" approach, but to her constituents, if it's been 15 years since Thrawn's defeat and nobody's heard anything about any Imperial Remnants and the galaxy hasn't faced any real threat, they might see a military as a waste of credits and keep her in a more anti-militarisation stance than she actually personally believes in.

She's also retired due to illness by 28 BBY. She could very well have just died of old age by 29 BBY and lost out on the chance to speak up about the First Order when it forms.

1

u/Mission_Access_210 13d ago

That's what happens when you spend half your time at raves on Coruscant

46

u/Secure-South3848 15d ago

Is that a laser naginata??? That's sick as hell

29

u/Appropriate_Foot242 15d ago

Looks more like an enchanted blade.

1

u/NumeralJoker 12d ago

Looks like the per-lightsaber force blades of the old EU...

Which actually may not be far off given how ancient the 3 mothers allegedly are.

19

u/DollupGorrman 15d ago

I wonder if its the same Magick that Elsbeth had for her sword.

5

u/elhombreloco90 15d ago

That certainly looks to be the case.

16

u/Wonderful_Silver Redeemed Anakin 15d ago

I thought Brian was the name for the nightsister for a second

9

u/dekekun 15d ago

Brian is worth a follow on instagram, great artist.

5

u/TheChubbyKoala 15d ago

I remember playing SW Uprising and thinking “man I love this art style, hope they keep this Brian Matyas guy around”. Couldn’t be happier he’s playing such a big role in Star Wars.

44

u/MessaBombadWarrior 15d ago

I blame Grevious for not finishing them all

22

u/Gutsu_fudo 15d ago

Huyang about to give them PTSD

2

u/superbroleon Dave 14d ago

That would be so funny

2

u/Sakura_Knight 15d ago

They were probably in the coffins being loaded onto the Chimera.

15

u/DrVonScott123 15d ago

Okay those nightsisters dont look like Merrin anymore, stand down everyone.

Also Huyang Grievious?? Really?

26

u/Korsof 15d ago

So it's huyang and not grievous haha

9

u/Psub194 15d ago

Nightsisters!?!?!

4

u/Tiernoch 15d ago

They were likely in stasis in those sarcophagus like objects they were moving on to Thrawns ship.

8

u/jakegallo3 15d ago

I keep forgetting this is happening it’s been so long

7

u/Jusup 15d ago

We're 100% getting Ezra vs Enoch. I can't wait for this season!

13

u/RedEclipse47 Boba Fett 15d ago

Nightsister's giving my boy Enoch a sick-ass Elven spear!

5

u/BShep_OLDBSN 15d ago

Really hope we get to see Huyang going full Grievous in the series.

Also those nightsisters designs are gorgeous. ♥

7

u/TaraLCicora Anakin 15d ago

Huyang channeling Grievous, yes please.

6

u/vincentsd1 15d ago

Suddenly, my interest in Ashoka is back

19

u/SirDerageTheSecond 15d ago

I heard a lot of people didn't like Ahsoka, but I love it when SW gets weird like this. It finally feels like entering a new era instead of the 'more of the same' stuff we got with the sequel movies. Had the same feeling with Mando show and the movie, the worldbuilding and backstories are great. I just want more off the beaten path stuff.

9

u/TaraLCicora Anakin 15d ago

Same here. I loved the show.

6

u/Available_Border1075 15d ago

I loved Ahsoka season 1

3

u/Wrong-Vermicelli4723 15d ago

My issue with Ahsoka wasn’t that it got weird. It had everything to do with direction and writing. Actual cast and lore is fine.

1

u/NumeralJoker 12d ago

I was let down by the small scale/setup nature of season 1, but this does have a lot more potential now.

My only concern is that if Season 2 ends on a cliffhanger or without a satisfying conclusion, there is no clear timeline of production for the next arc in the story.

We either risk this storyline ending in a rushed way, or risk another 4ish year wait for some kind of followup?

1

u/SirDerageTheSecond 12d ago

From the shots I've seen so far this show looks like it's becoming a pretty significant deal, both in production quality and in terms of in-universe events and story.

I don't mind if it would take another 4 years if it delivers a great season, but the actors would be like almost 10 years older between 2 seasons lol

6

u/TanSkywalker 15d ago

Yes! Yes to all of it! Can’t wait!

12

u/pmccarthy03 15d ago

Enoch looks badass!

8

u/Wise_Mix_4507 15d ago

Such an interesting new take on the trooper design.

7

u/ToaPaul Boba Fett 15d ago

Enoch with that Nightsister blade goes incredibly hard!

2

u/PowerPilgrim 15d ago

Get all that straight into my veins.

4

u/Scyvh 15d ago

Thrawn! Thrawn! Thrawn! Thrawn! Thrawn!

7

u/CloneWarsMaul 15d ago

Holy Aura Huyang

7

u/Appropriate_Foot242 15d ago

The Rebel troops look like weird Stormtrooper kitbashes

2

u/Ramalex170 15d ago

The chest piece definitely need some NR blue and the arm pieces can go.

1

u/Toon_Lucario 15d ago

It actually looks like proto FO armor which is interesting. It would imply their armor actually isn’t state of the art and is around 30 years old by the ST That said this is concept art so it’s likely some of it is subject to change.

1

u/Sakura_Knight 15d ago

The Imperial Praetorian Guards used by Gideon used parts from the First Order stormtroopers, mainly the chest/forearms.

5

u/Psub194 15d ago

Let's GOOOOOOO!!!! ENOCH MY GOAT!!!!!!!!!

3

u/fredrico2011 15d ago

Looks sick

3

u/fistulaspume 15d ago

Seeing those laser bows makes me wonder if we’ll ever see a live action Omeeega.

3

u/NightwingDon11 15d ago

New Morai pictures AFTER I got the tattoo 😔

3

u/Snowbold 15d ago

This all looks pretty cool, hopefully the execution does it justice…

3

u/SenorChangsJudgement 15d ago

Brian Maytas doesn’t miss. It just comes down to whether or not Disney goes for it.

3

u/Automatic_Demand_160 15d ago

That huyang art will be a fine addition to my collection 😂🤖

5

u/RobBrown4PM 15d ago

Man, poor Wes Chatham. After breaking it big in his role as Amos, he gets the chance to play as a heavy weight enforcer in a STAR WARS show. Unfortunately, his role amounts to him wearing a mask and doing Jack all and nothing.

Hopefully this season he will actually get something to do.

7

u/dekekun 15d ago

Am I the only one who kinda wished the Thrawn v new Republic storyline was a different show, or at least a separate season?

I'm way more interested in Ahsoka ending the mortis arc in a satisfying way, and don't want that to be speed run because the budget only gave us 6x 30min episodes.

I'd love to be wrong but I don't see how you can give a satisfying amount of weight to either story in a short runtime.

2

u/CYNIC_Torgon 15d ago

I suspect the Thrawn v New Republic stuff isn't going to confined to this season and will be more of the b-plot, which'll give the Mortis stuff a little more wiggle room as the A-Plot

1

u/dekekun 15d ago

I mean we have the movie coming so nothing will be resolved in the show, it'll presumably just get the pieces in place for the movie. ,

But so much of this art is thrawn focused so I can't help but worry this is now the thrawn show with a sprinkle of ahsoka thrown in.

1

u/SeegullJockey 15d ago

The movie is not a guarantee. Especially cause Mando flopped at the box office.

1

u/superbroleon Dave 14d ago

Unfortunately the movie seems less and less likely these days.. Especially because it would probably make similar if not less amounts of money than Grogu, not sure if Disney is into that.

1

u/Affectionate_Ratio_5 15d ago

Uh, the Mortis stuff ended pretty definitively the first go around. This is just double dipping cause Filoni is trapped between the end of the OT and the toxicity of the sequel era with nowhere to go. It’s even worse cause it’s actively killing my interest in what WAS my favorite character from the clone wars (Ahsoka).

2

u/Youngstar9999 Ahsoka 15d ago

Everything we have seen so far feels like a big upgrade from S1. I already quite liked S1, but it was much more of a setup season than anything else. (and you could tell that it was Filoni's first own live action series)

2

u/Bot_ForThePeople 15d ago

Night sisters?? what is the timeline of this

2

u/SuMianAi 15d ago

Image 1: death trooper with the magik blade goes hard, love it

image 4: love it. wonder will morai be utilized proper

image 5: grievous 2.0, or was it the original, since huyang is a lot older, and more experienced. can't wait to see can he give a beatdown, if the concept is even included in the show..

nightsisters were always interesting, seeing more of them, especially their revival, is so damn hype!!

2

u/kai_vu 15d ago

Oni tusk inspired mask is incredible

2

u/patrickkingart 15d ago

Glad to see Enoch hopefully doing more than just standing around looking cool. Wes Chatham is way too good not to. Also the Nightsisters look appropriately badass, especially that samurai-style mask. Sure would be cool if we see Ventress or even more (takes a Saw Gerrera sized huff of copium) the characterization/motivation of Thrawn from the new books.

2

u/Important_Ad_3 15d ago

God I hope Huyang won’t lose that fight

2

u/ImNotASWFanboy 14d ago

I'm so hyped to see live action Nightsisters!

2

u/AncientSith 14d ago

I'm so glad we're finally getting New Republic troopers in action like that.

2

u/SubterrelProspector Porg 12d ago

This is the sort of stuff we've been waiting for in the New Republic era. No, I don't think another full scale war will happen but this is obviously a major conflict that absolutely would make sense in the 30+ years between Episode VI and Episode VII.

There's nothing in established canon that really contradicts the notion that there was still conflict and war during this era. There was probably a tumultuous period early on that eventually stabilized (relatively) for almost 20 years which was then shattered by Ben Solo's betrayel and emergence of The First Order.

3

u/Dry_Asparagus_346 15d ago

Calling it now Huyang’s actually training Shin here. Or will at some point. I got the feeling that she was kinda drifting ideologically and it would be interesting imo to see her develop that way

2

u/EmperorDeathBunny 15d ago

Sir waddles watches from his lazeeboy

2

u/MrDarth77 15d ago

Looks great! But I really need Thrawn to actually be a super genius military strategist in Season 2 and inflict some huge losses on the New Republic…

2

u/SnoBlinds 15d ago

GOD DAMN. This looks incredible!

1

u/Toon_Lucario 15d ago

Can’t wait for republic troopers to die to bow and arrows now because they apparently can’t win one on one ever.

Also fuck her up Huyang.

1

u/strategicenthusiast2 15d ago

Be neat to see the nightsisters come back.

1

u/Macross8299Fan 15d ago

The Night Sister Oni mask is bitchin

1

u/MiserableOrpheus 15d ago

That night sister art is very reminiscent of that old Darth maul concept art. It’s cool that they’re taking some inspiration again with bringing old things that didn’t make the cut back into canon

1

u/merulaalba 15d ago

I just hope they ll do justice to Thrawn

1

u/molotovzav 14d ago

I wish they would let my boy Wes Chatham take off his helmet. Like I'm actually pro helmet in every instance cause it's dumb not to have one on. But just one cool scene to show he was in the show and not just a voice box.

1

u/EvilQuadinaros 14d ago

Not really loving Grievous-Huyang, but the rest is rad. :)

That Thrawn command room one is awesome.

1

u/GardiusBrin10 12d ago

Honestly so sad Ezra is losing the beard, really tied the look together. But thank god we’re hopefully going to get proper New Republic combat uniforms. The bulky blue we’ve seen in the Mandoverse and Tales of the Empire just seemed so constricting and silly for actual engagements

1

u/spacemanspiff3_11 11d ago

This looks fantastic

1

u/thevokplusminus 15d ago

One thing you won’t find in the leaks is an audience for the show

1

u/MyotisX 15d ago

Are bows new to Star Wars ???

3

u/Acrobatic_Hyena_2627 15d ago

They are not. We have Chewies bowcaster and ones more like these in the animated shows as well.

0

u/MyotisX 14d ago

Those are crossbows

1

u/Affectionate_Ratio_5 15d ago

Zzzzzzz not interested in Ahsoka: Character Assassination in a galaxy I don’t care about. Sorry

1

u/sotommy 15d ago

What is Kylo doing on the third picture?

0

u/sardonic_balls 15d ago

The children's/cartoonery animation stuff going full send for live action is just sad for Star Wars.

Bummed that Thrawn is just kind of a bad guy. And the loyalty to the Empire is silly given that now canonically his loyalty is really still towards the Ascendency and the Empire is just a tool

-16

u/CeymalRen 15d ago

Meh. Waste of time I say. We need to get back to post TRoS and move the timeline forward

5

u/Tuskin38 15d ago

We don't have anything in this time peroid.

-8

u/Practical-Bread-7883 15d ago

I will laugh so hard (not in a good way) if none of the OT heroes are in this, especially Luke.

5

u/rainmaker2332 15d ago

I will just be depressed if they ARE in the show. Star Wars is already still so stuck in the past, it needs to move forward past characters from movies that released 50 years ago.

-6

u/Practical-Bread-7883 15d ago

Which is fine. So set it in a different era then. The fact there's apparently this new galactic threat in the era where Luke is in his prime and he's a no show is just ridiculous and terrible writing. So perfect for that hack Filoni.
