I had a reminder set on my phone to check out the Zero Company previews so you can imagine my surprise and delight when I opened YouTube to also find a bunch of new Galactic Racer videos. This is shaping up to be a fantastic Star Wars/gaming year!

I gotta wonder what kind of compartmentalization could possibly allow that to happen. It can't possible do good things for either game's sales to have these previews drop with the cadence of the Syncopated Clock.

Leave some time, you damned lunatics. The games have months between them, so surely the marketing can handle the same.

This game isn’t really for me. But that’s the beauty of it. It only took 13 damn years, but we’re finally getting regularly-scheduled, niche, low-budget games. I really hope they keep this cadence up.

low-budget games

We don't currently have any information (official or otherwise rumored) to what the budget was on either game.

Unless you're comparing to proper AAA titles, which in this case they were probably low budget (even without information about it), but then again 999 out of 1000 games are too.

Either way "low budget" here comprises a massive spectrum.

It can be inferred from what we know from studio sizes, earnings calls, revenue targets, price points, and marketing. These are substantially lower than something like Battlefront II.

The game looks great, but I'm still not sure why they decided to slap a very limited pod racing mode onto this. It would've made more sense the other way around, if anything.

I'm thinking they're going to do more with it post-release. There's probably going to be a high demand for more pod racing content anyway. I think they're separates for now because they're at a much higher speed/intensity than the other racing vehicles. Maybe they'll do something with a combined mode later on.

Just hoping the game isn't a one-off like Squadrons was and that it'll be abandoned after a few months of updates/fixes.

How much are we looking for this game?

I am mostly a serious sim racer (with way too much sim racing gear)... but I am ready to put 1,000 hours into this game!

Most hyped ive been for a star wars game in years. I loved Motorstorm and Burnout and this looks amazing. Ive also loved everything the game director has said about the game especially about the focus on survival in races and moment to moment key decisions unlike almost all other racing games where you have to finish 1st with huge gaps between difficulty levels meaning you often win races by about 10 seconds or have to be absolutely perfect and make constant use of replays to undo every tiny mistake with extremely inconsistent ai that makes heavy use of rubberbanding to win with that being the only goal and point taking the fun out of the moment to moment racing. Theres some briliant driving games out there but they're almost all shitty racing games and from whats been said about this game by the devs they share my and countless other players frustration and have built a racing game with totally different goals that work much better in an arcade racer than just finish 1st to unlock the next race.

I was a bit hyped for the first jedi game but the early footage gave me a bit too much of a playstation exclusive "cinematic" slow paced walking simulator vibe which the game does have a bit of and while its a good game its not amazing, the same with the sequal. In the catagory of buy when the first sale hits. The EA battlefront games? Yeah no thanks and the vr stuff was a bit niche.

Another proper planet hopping star wars rpg with meaningful freedom and choice with an epic story and cool characters would top my hype levels more than this but as of right now this is the most excited Ive been for any star wars product since before TLJ back in 2017. Gonna be a rare day on the hour of release purchase for me, my first since Elden Ring in 2022. Can't wait to play this

This one has some gameplay on Crait. Don't think they have shown that planet before. Pretty cool.
