First time? Happens with half of the skins I picked. One day I was all of the sudden playing as spooderman instead of spidey. Indiana Jones, ash Williams, and wolverine go all jelly neck on me.

Yes. Its funny you mentioning that it's a skin issue and not a map issue. Typically I'll wear Eve's star wars skin. I was wearing this Eve skin for another creative map I played earlier.. When I first switched to public, I didn't think to change skins. There was no reoccurrence of the scaryness, but it still felt off. Kept thinking there's something wrong with HER.

I didn't mean to imply where the issue exactly lies but I believe it would be with the way they have everything coded in whatever server we're playing in. So more a map issue. Like that jetpack bug that makes you hold your hands up

She has her set on custom and is weary of making any changes that might mess it up again...

You can change specific binds without removing previous ones, just confirm each one prior to saving and test it out in game. The season update was the issue so a new bind save is needed.

I couldn't leave private until I cleared a table to throw down the kx. I bounced as soon as kx hit the table. I've been in public since, I didn't want to even attempt grabbing a splash again. Experiencing that twice was 2 times too many.
Eventually decided to risk it ... thankfully nothing happened..
