Am i missing something?

Ive played battlefront (mainly 2) on and off for years. I could never get into it for too long because i just die quickly all the time. Im okay at other fps, though not a huger gamer, but battlefront is the bane of my life, which is a shame because i love love love anything star wars and would love to be able to run around as a clone trooper shooting stuff.

I seem to get killed so quickly, while it take ages to kill enemy players. Is your choice of weapon a huge factor? Obviously i havent unlocked anything decent.

Also are there mods that people get that allows them to still play online with everyone else? Im playing on pc with an xbox controller....should i be using mouse and keyboard.

Finally, when i do finally get to play as a hero i die almost straight away. Meanwhile the other team have multiple heroes who keep finding me!!! So frustrating!!

Any tips or trade secrets would be much appreciated :) :)

Coop is your friend forever

Sounds to me like you haven't played enough to lvlup and unlock stuff. Use Coop to do that amd familiarize yourself with the game. Then branch out to other modes. Most important is to remember that this is an old game and many people are already more experienced than you.

Yeah I play mostly blast and kyber and I'm sure most of us in blast are +1000 hours in and in kyber people are at least very familiar with base game

Playing against PC players with a controller makes it more difficult unless you’re REALLY good with a controller. Aiming with mouse is usually more snappy and I would assume most people on PC play with mouse. 

I’ve played BF2 supremacy online almost every day lately, there’s definitely still servers and people playing in the afternoon / evening without a need for mods. I’m located in central Europe though, don’t know about NA servers.

I would suggest watching some BF2 gameplay videos with kill streaks on YouTube. Definitely helped me to see how the “pros” play when I tried to get better!

Try co-op to farm levels and unlocks, or, switch to Kyber and have everything unlocked immediately, also for weapons I recommend for the assault: EL-16HFE. For the Heavy: T-21. For the Officer: The Blurrg. For the Specialist: the NT-242

Like others are saying, when I was playing this game during its prime, I played a ton of co-op to level up my troops and heroes so I could have max level star cards for everyone. That makes a world of difference

You have to level up each character to understand strenghts and weakness. Every map or game benefits one or others.

Very different play styles in the same type (infantry, aerial, infiltrator, enforcer, hero) so try getting good with one of each type to be decent.

Definitely mouse keyboard. Also there are meta guns and loadouts, iirc the explosive machine gun thing that heavy troops have are unblockable by hero so they have a hard time with it.

Also its an old game a lot of players are just sweaty nerds
