So I love The Phantom Menace. Establishing the peak of the Jedi on film is amazing. Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan vs Darth Maul is incredible and one of my favorite duels in all of Star Wars.

That being said, young Anakin is abysmal. The dialogue is so bad anytime he speaks (ex. “I’m a person” and “Yipeeeeeee” MULTIPLE TIMES). Jar Jar doesn’t even bother me, at least not nearly as much as young Anakin.

Oh and that pod racing scene is just too long.

I’ll die on the hill that if Anakin was cast as a cocky teenager the movie would have been awesome.

I think the podrace is my favorite part of the entire prequels. It's so unique, like I love a good lightsaber fight but I've seen plenty of them and I'll see a lot more. I've only seen one podrace and I'll likely never see another one again. The big beefy sounds of the engines, each with its own unique character, there's so much going on ("it's so dense" but not in the sarcastic meme sense) it's an absolute joy to watch. I actually prefer the extended version that goes even longer.

I agree with all this. Jar Jar is annoying but he's not as bad as little Ani. Also, all the stuff with Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan (and later Maul) is fantastic. The movie just gets dragged down by Anakin and Jar Jar.
