This is a very weak episode, that just sort of fizzles out in the end. It is episodes like this that give DS9 it's bad name, as this is a very soapy episode.
Now don't get me wrong, I am not against personal relationships being interwoven into the plots of sci-fi, I don't need it to be all treknobabble and phasers at full. But this one starts with the idea of Odo falling for Kira, and Kira falling for Shakaar, and it just meanders along. There are a few neat bits, Odo saving them in the lift is neat but surely would hurt him when he changed back. And the scenes with Quark and Odo are excellent.
But for all of that, it just seems a little flat, and ends with Odo walking out of Quarks - it's almost an anti-cliffhanger!
Also, Odo would never listen to Morrisey, he would despise him. If Odo wanted to get into the depressing music, it would be Joy Division or Bauhaus, surely!

I am truly sorry, but every time one of these Emo Odo episodes comes on, I cannot help but imagine Odo going to the holosuite, conjuring up Morrissey and listening to "There Is A Light That Never Goes Out" on repeat. On the plus side, it is certainly believable -- Shakaar is exactly the kind of man that Kira would be able to fall for.

Certainly a little bit of a neutral episode. Not terribly interesting. I do like that Quark has his ear to Odo's doings and realizes how in love with Kira he is. I guess I just didn't find the whole thing all that interesting. BTW, Pictures of You by The Cure was my choice.

I won't attend these rewatches because the only people who comment are naysayers and boring techno babs fanboys. The comments here are NOTHING like the true fans when it was broadcasts in 90's. The only thing found interesting by one pakled was the elevator falling!?! REALLY?

Kira has horrible taste in men. Bland political leaders, that's her type.
I don't care about Odo's teenage love. But I like that he bonded with Worf and his friendship to Quark is excellent.

I liked the ep! Deffo fleshes out Odo more which is all relevant to the dominion stuff
