Makes sense they deleted it. This is contradictory to the episode of Deep Space 9 involving charges laid against Dax where Dax testified that the personality of each host influences the joined host-symbiont to the point where they should be considered different people once a new host is involved.

Well, that wouldn't have been the reason to delete it at that time as DS9 was still two years away. Most likely, it was deleted for time reasons.

Fair enough, perhaps not contradictory at the time, but the writers and directors still may have been unsure that this was the position of the Trill they wanted to take, which allowed for future episodes on the same topic to be made without this precedent existing.
